That's good that he can still climb a little. I hope he gets better.
That poor cham is in really bad shape.
I can just imagine the pain he's probably going through.
There are other members here from NY.
I hope they'll chime in to help :)
My female veiled ALWAYS tries to bite me.
She hisses, gapes & tries to attack my hand.
So I try not to mess with her or the cage or anything in it unless I have to.
I've seen a really bad bite mark here from a forum member that owned a female veiled and he said it required 5...
Geesh.. yah that's a pretty advanced case of MBD :(
I don't know how just dusting crickets would help him out. He's in a pretty bad state & in pain. Poor thing!
His bones need calcium bad and the fastest way I know of would be through an injection.
I think on a thread here somewhere...
Are all four of his legs like that?
Those 2 legs look bad & so does his casque from that pic.
Oh yeah, looks like a male veiled due to the spur in the back foot.
I would do overnight too. They usually arrive overnight to me if I pick UPS since they're also in California.
Isn't there one near you or at least in the same state?
Hi, you might want to post pics of your cham when you can.
There's also a good post here by Jeweled Chameleons on MBD:
I agree with Jeweled Chameleons on injecting it inside a hornworm.

If the vet is telling you to give him crickets dusted with calcium, then I don't think you have to worry about him overdosing on it or having it damage his organs.
I think what the Chameleon Dish article meant was not to feed the animal directly with calcium like put it in a syringe & drop...
Hi, have you posted a pic of your cham somewhere or her enclosure?
I'm trying to look for it. Hope I didn't scare you. I didn't mean to.
Did he advise you to use liquid calcium? I don't know where you're located but you can get those a lllreptile.com, petco, petsmart, cricketfood.com...
I'm surprised that the Vet said he's far advanced in MBD yet will not give him calcium shots and wants you to just dust his crickets?
Geesh.. How about another vet?
The thing with chams is the moment they stop eating, then they start teethering between life & death. Some of them will eat...
When I first got my Herpmist the water would drip from the reservoir bulkhead too but it would drip REALLY slow.. Like a drop every 2 mins..
So I placed a container to catch the water.
After refilling the reservoir 3 times it stopped. I don't know why though.
I can't believe it ruptured. I was keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't. Glad to hear that he's still eating and I wish he'd get better soon.
Did the vet say how long his eyes would be oozing like that?
And after the discharge is gone will he be able to open it but not see?
I wish I could twist em but you can't.. haha....
Nah, I use the tongs to feed the roaches to my chams but after that incident, I haven't tried feeding them the roaches again but they seem to like it. And grabbing em is out of the question.. ughhhh.. I can't even grab crickets ..haha...
Dave gave me one for free at the meeting so I tried that one first. Since I liked it I bought 3 more. I think it's better than the red. More water comes out of it and my veiled likes it. The red is too fine I think.
