Um, there is no way your jacksons was seven months old, they have a gestation period that is around 6 months, maybe longer. She would of had to have been bred when she was 1 month old.
I would be more worried about how many bloodlines are coming into the states. If the gene pool is not big enough, inbreeding could just be a few years away. Maybe they can introduce some inbred, deformed mutants back into the wild.
Lol. When I first got into the hobby at age 17, I thought I could possibly do some good by breeding rarer chameleons in captivity. Over the next 10 years, I had some successes, and a lot of failures. For instance, I owned at least 10 b. perarmata over the years, I never produced 1 egg. After...
I don't believe so. To believe this, you would have to believe it is in the chameleons best interest to be kept in captivity. I believe it is in the chameleons best interest to be left alone.
From what I have read on this forum, I'm not sure there is a clear answer to this.
This is what I thought it meant. F1, F2 denotes the number of generations that the chameleon has been bred in captivity. F1's parents are wild caught, F2's grandparents are wild caught. This continues with F3...
It does not have to be published, just a tread or an online discussion where and individual talks about his/her experiences. This would be very interesting to read.
If anyone knows where I can find an article on the subject of captive breeding multiple generations of chameleons in captivity, please let me know. I find it really hard to believe that enough research has been done by anyone to make a claim that chameleons can only be bred to a certain...
Never mind, you are clearly not going to get it.
A couple questions though, just because I don't know that i understand for sure.
By your thinking, couldn't that last chameleon be around 20 years later? Wild Caught(possibly 4 years), F1(4 years), F2(4 years), F3(4years), F4(4 years). So...
It makes absolutely no difference what this particular guy said, or did not say. Even if it was true that he had trouble breeding the species past f-3 or f-4, your statement is very bold and misleading. You are not presenting your own opinions as facts, as Chris has stated, you are presenting...
I once had a shipment of roaches get lost. They arrived just fine, 7 days after they were shipped. It probably just depends on the conditions they are exposed to during shipping. That being said, the insects I order are typically shipped priority mail of fed-ex 2 day.
