Yeah, I’d like to think that would make a difference but would it really? Do the location managers control inventory? I would think corporate decides what to send them.
Whatever you use, do it in small areas so you can get it on the silicone before it starts to form any skin, which can happen rather quickly. I did find I had some small areas where the moss didn’t want to adhere very well. It really needs to be pressed into a liberally applied and very wet bed...
Walking through petco the other day I noticed they had some new juvenile chameleons. I’m used to seeing the little $69 veileds they sell, but this time they’re selling $300 panthers. It’s disappointing to see given how much misinformation there is about giving these creatures proper care. They...
Does anyone know where I can find a bunch of free stuff that normally sells for a ton of money online? I’m just wondering cause I have bunch of friends who love free stuff.
It’s definitely for a friend...
Thank you. Wouldn’t have been able to do it without the wealth of knowledge I found here.
The flex seal in the aerosol can is NOT non-toxic. Only use the liquid version which just goes on like a really thick paint. I used GE silicone I multi purpose. Some of the big box stores carry it. It’s the...
Make sure you use silicone I, the kind that does not have mold inhibitors in it. Mold inhibitors can be toxic to our pets.
also, after the foam dries you have to rough the smooth surface off before you apply silicone. It won’t stick if you don’t, and it will be awkward looking. I used an angle...
Most of us just slather silicone on and stick the peat moss to the wet silicone. If I were doing it again now I might try the same with flex seal, not sure if this has been tried or how well it would work, but it seems to me like it would work fine.
I just waterproofed mine and put a shower drain in it without sloping it. I haven’t had a drop of water come out of the drain yet. Based on my experience so far, you’d have to be significantly over water to actually need the drain.
I think worrying about them eating the substrate is overrated.
You’re most of the way to bioactive. I say go for it. If you can cover the substrate in pots, you can cover it in a terrarium floor.
This is what I use.

Just search for high visibility black aluminum screen. You can get aluminum screen at your local hardware store, but it's usually charcoal colored.
I'm using an LED for sunrise/sunset and plant growth. I have the Leds ramp up over the course of an hour or so, then when they are at full power, the T5s & basking bulbs kick on. That's how we do it in reef tanks, so I just carried that over to my viv. I wouldn't worry about making the T5...
Cletus has been in his new home for the last few days and he seems to be doing well. Better than ever actually. He’s spent a lot of time exploring and picking out his favorite basking spots. He’s a lot less lethargic than he was in his little screen enclosure. Very happy with the way this is...
I definitely take any criticisms/warnings into consideration. I would move the lights if I had to, although that would be a real pain at this stage. The openings are fairly close to the wall, but the bulbs are several inches up into the openings. Yesterday I put one 60watt and one 75watt bulb in...
Ok, I was mistaken. She's making me do the planting too...
I got the mister up and running, but need more nozzles. Ordered those today. Got some plants and vines in, but he needs more climbing/basking options.
