As long as he still gets good airflow, he will be fine. I just use paper towel because it is easy to clean and can't be ingested easily. I guess you could place the feeders in a tub in his enclosure... but you would still have to change his substrate frequently.

You asked for live plant recommendations... I would recommend umbrella plant/schefflera, pothos, hibiscus, or ficus. These are the most common and hardiest plants. I use a pothos and umbrella plant :)

No, I would still stick to paper towels. Any substrate of any kind is dangerous and is just a pain to clean. Also, I see you live in Michigan. Is it humid where you are? If so, even slightly, you should use a screen cage. If you have the option, always go for the screen. EDIT: My mistake :o I...

I am partial to Ambilobes... but if I had to chose, there are some rare, beautiful Nosy Mitsios that do turn out like Benton's :/ I vote Mitsio.

That's about the same length I've had mine, maybe a bit longer. It eventually stopped working properly, and the water doesn't stay warm for more than a day.

I have heard of different species (veileds and Jackson's, Jackson's and panthers, etc.) being ok in the same room with each other, but not housed with each other.

...I probably wouldn't risk it. My idea was to put the heating pad against the side of the misting machine, on a low setting. I'm just worried about the plastic sides...

Sorry I am a total noob on the whole heating pad thing :rolleyes: Would an electric blanket work? Or too risky?... Dead- How much do those aquarium heaters run? I actually don't know if that will work... I have a crap misting machine (the infamous Monsoon).

So I am looking into getting a few heating pads, one for my dubias, one for my misting machine (to keep the water warm), and one for my possibly upcoming cricket colony. The thing is... I don't want to drop $25 on some stupid PetSmart heating pad. Where did you guys get yours? Much appreciated :D

Lol "fruity". That's a good one ;) My veiled does it a lot. It feels like a cat using you as a scratching post. It sucks. And yes... I have seen Yoshi get "fruity" with me.
