Healthy males typically live 5-7 years. I have heard of one male living to 13 though.
Healthy females typically live 4-7 years, if you don't breed.
It really depends on which species you're talking about, though.

She looks like she would be old enough to tell. If she's got no "spurs" on the back of her back heels, she is a girl.
What about Emerald? You could call her "Emma" or "Emily" for short. Also she is green :D
