I feed wolf, crab, different orb weavers, wood louse spiders, etc etc. The only poisonous ones we have around here are Brown Recluse and Black Widows. I know of lots of reports of chams eating Black Widows but I stay away from them let alone trying to catch and feed. Anything else is fair game...
They are awesome!! Im not a huge fan of spiders but I do love the Jumping Spiders. Ill feed off any spider but not these just because I like them so much. Ill usually try and catch one if I see it, put it in a mason jar with screen on the lid, some sticks in the bottom and feed them some crix or...
It is a terrarium but..... Maybe try a screen cage. Even with montanes I still think a little less than perfect humidity with good air flow is better than perfect humidity that is stagnant.
Its really hard to say.
What are gutloading with? Looks like they have a touch of edema. Could be caused from a certain "nutrient" or possibly an infection if the air is too stagnant in the enclosure.
Im not really sure what to suggest. Hopefully Trace will chime in. She would be the best person for suggestions on live bearers, especially the bitaeniatus complex.
Bet thats a hand full:D My matschiei would try and snag feeders out of each others mouths when they were both in a free range. Had to get them on opposite sides to feed them. Little turds!
Ive had quite a few chams get gular edema because of over supplementing with just plain calcium. Granted I keep montanes which are more prone to over supplementing but their bodies still have to absorb it through the organs even if it is getting pushed out the nostrils. I see no reason in...
I think they got both females, honestly. The first shipment of thamnobates was really male heavy. I was told I had 9.9 but I think it was more like 5.13 LOL. I can ask though.
He looks fine to me.
Personally, I dont agree with giving him loads of calcium or feeding 25 crickets a day if they are appropriate size. Both are overkill. Over supplementing can cause internal issues. You want a good healthy gutload, which yours isnt bad, along with light supplements. Over...
I did receive a couple PMs from Kylerenz who got two thamnobates from the first ever shipment. He said his friend is keeping them and they are still alive to this day so Ill ask him a bit about the husbandry they have received. Its definitely nice to know that some people are having success with...
Sweet!! Ive been thinking about going back to school myself. Id like to do something with the Appalachian Salamanders. Not sure what that would be but Ive been thinking about it:D
There has been 4 imports of Bradypodion species since I started importing them in 2009 I think. Would have to look that up. 2 from me and 2 from Paul from the same source. I think there might still be 2 out of 19 from the first shipment still alive, a few of 20 from the second shipment still...
My comments werent completely directed toward you just generalizing some of what was brought up. I know you are all for lower quotas etc. so please dont take it as a personal attack just kind of generalizing. Should have mentioned that at first:o
It would be nice to see less quotas and better...
Looks a hell of a lot like the first cham in this thread.

Personally, if I hatched something like that out it would end up being food for another cham or reptile but cant believe it got that far in the wild without it being food for another!
As was said in Pauls new thread, most of them came in bad shape. Its a shame and this is usually how it goes. Getting a few pairs into good keepers hands is not worth the thousands of chameleons that get exported every year that just die.
Again, same comment I made can be said here. Its just...
We really need to know what species it is so we can give you proper husbandry. Not all of them have the same husbandry. Upload the pic to a site like photobucket.com then copy the IMG link and paste it on here. It kind of does look like a panther chameleon but not being 100% sure will only lead...
This is where a lot of people will get mixed up with sex. Usually the females will get a little color before the males like the blue, green or purple dots on the face.
