    Meller's information?

Maybe some day I'll get back into it like I was. For now I don't have the space. :( The issue with plastic plants is that they are not strong enough for an adult melleri if the plants are the 'click together' type..... You'll see that they have these little joints making the length modular...

    Meller's information?

Melleri are heavy chameleons. They will need thick and sturdy branches and vines. If it's not as thick as your thumb, it's likely too small, unless you have a baby melleri. The rope in the above photo will simply not be enough. I also wouldn't make climbing highways up really high with nothing...

    High Output Fixtures

Sometimes I think people forget that our animals live outside :o. Bright is a good thing, and with T5HO you are spending less money on energy to make it bright than you would if you tried to get as much light with a T12 fixture of olden days. As our hobby evolves things become cheaper to...

Drainage Systems for Cages - get creative!

I used Coroplast and hot glue. In my experiences i've learned that using the hot glue to hold the pieces and then using 3 hour rain-ready silicone sealer is best to join the pieces. The silicone is more forgiving because it can flex a bit and it will fill in the gaps better than hot glue...

    5.0 or 10.0?

There are a lot of answers :D If using a CFL in a clip light, so that the lamp is verticl to the top of the cage, try to use a wide clip light dome. If you are using it in a fixture like the Exo Terra viv fixtures where the lamp is laying on it's side, or horizontal, use a 10.0 if the enclosure...

    New mellers chameleon

I too have had years of melleri experience. I no longer keep them because I don't have the room for them. Following the Jacksoni husbandry is a good idea. Keep temps below 80*f ambient, can go as low as 50*f no prob (at night). Provide a basking spot that has a low angled light, do not have a...

    Ridding of Mealybugs

I used a spray from Home Depot that said it was animal safe. I just was sure to wash down the plant before using again. It took care of the issue.

Drainage Systems for Cages - get creative!

Yes, make sure it's not tempered glass lol. It will just fall apart. But tempered glass isn't very common in the reptile world like it is in the aquarium world. I wouldn't use a bulkhead unless you have to though. You'll always have standing water with a bulkhead. If you do use a bulkhead...

Drainage Systems for Cages - get creative!

You can drill a hole in glass pretty easily. I have done it several times and it's a piece of cake! Check Amazon for diamond tipped drill bits and then google 'drilling glass'. If you have a cordless drill with a clutch adjustment you'll be best off. The clutch will allow the bit to stop if it...

OMG! What are you doing about heat lights after Jan1?

PAR20 lamps are small. Not likely more than 2" wide at the widest point. They fit fine into clip lights. You'll see people use them in small track lighting cans in home use. PAR30 and PAR36's are the wider lamps that with just barely fit inside of a 4"clip light from Home Depot.

OMG! What are you doing about heat lights after Jan1?

When I am talking to customers at shows all day, I suggest PAR20 FLood Halogens at 50 watts. This has always worked for me and I've been doing it for years.
