Ya, I was actually thinking about getting an umbrella for Abby (female). I called the breeder and he thought it was seeing the female too. I actually noticed in the back there was a little bit pulled back, so he probably did see her there. I fixed it, and he mentioned if hes really active I...
Thx for the tips. Well its the fact he has a ton of branches, but very little leaf cover. The ficus is kinda thin, so there isn't much for him to hide in.
I hope mine doesn't want more coverage haha. I've just spent about $100 bucks for my gargoyle gecko's new cage, and I don't really want to buy Costello (the male screen climber) $50 of fake branches :P
No, there is a towel between the cages. As I post this he is in the pot again, but this time I caught him with his cheeks slightly bulging and inverting. It looked like he was either drinking or eating something, but there is just dirt in the pot. He saw me, turned around, and is back up the...
He's once again at the bottom, trying to get up the screen. He just gave up and is going right back up the tree. He's so weird. I figured it was either cause he was dehydrated or very bored. He's not wrinkly though, and he has a humidifier that heavily fogs straight down the tree for an hour...
ya I'd say its a girl too. In my experience the females get circular patterns on their sides rather than stripes. Its tough to determine when they're so little :/. Girls can be great; smaller cage, mine's more tame than my male, and doesn't eat like a pig :P
So I just recently got a male and female 1 year old chameleon and they've been set up for about 3 days now, but they are opposites. They are both in the same cages they grew up in with the breeder (2'x2'x4' each), but the male is really moving everywhere. He sits up at the top of his ficus a...
Thx everybody for your input. I think I'll remove the towels and just watch for stagnant water at the bottom and wipe it up if there is any. I would do a drainage system if it weren't extremely inconvenient at my current place and time :/ possibly later.
Thx everybody for the input. I guess I'll just remove the towels and instead use them to clean up any stagnant water (if there even will be). I would do a drainage system but my current situation will not allow :/ just out of extreme inconvenience.
Since I just got my two 1 year old panthers yesterday (boy n girl), I've been fidgeting with them yesterday and today to try to get everything perfect. I've asked a lot of these questions here before, but I'm back for some more opinions.
1. The temp in their cages has been a standard 79 (when...
It does seem to be kinda big for a female, depending on age. Any idea how old?Females are a little strange. If NEVER introduced to a male, I've heard they might not ever lay eggs. Would this be your first chameleon? If so, I might wait on a good male who's pretty colorful :) they are a lot less...
I suppose. Thanks for the input so far, I think I'll try to go a week unless people are like "NOOOO!!!" and see what happens. If they get messy and rank I'll for sure switch em up. Its just cardboard otherwise and it has already built up a bit, so I'm worried as it gets humid it's gunna really...
I just got my Panthers today :D and I am sooooo excited!!! I put in a ton of effort to get everything set up today but I have 2 questions.
First, I hear you are supposed to put paper towels at the bottom of the cages, but I figured I could use cheap bath towels. They are keeping the humidity...
Sorry for the slow response. Im getting my panthers from a breeder who is actually really close to my apt. I have 2 local reptile stores that did't have young chameleons, so I asked if I could get the numbers of breeders they buy from. They actually took my information and passed word around...
Though I'm not a chameleon expert whatsoever, I'd say go for it. After having my panthers I plan to move on to Jacksons. I think they are really really cool, and the fact that they don't need as big of a cage as say veiled or panthers is pretty nice, at least for me since I'm a little...
So I'm picking up my two new 1yr old panthers in about a week and I'm at a standstill at home. I got a dual ultrasonic humidifier thats a little big and I don't think it will fit between the cages. I figured I would put it on top of one or both of the cages, but I don't know if it being...
