So despite all my worries and posts, Abby laid eggs last night! She laid fifteen in the bottom of her tub!!! I just put them in vermaculite in a plastic tub in a Styrofoam cooler. I also put in a temp/humidity reader to check on em. Right now they are sitting at 81 F and 99% humidity. I think...
haha, its pathetic that I am too :P Costello has been eating superworms and drinks like a fish so its usually somewhat orange >:( my girl abby drinks less than he does and hers is perfectly sized and colored. I know its probably orangish from superworms, but it drives me crazy its not bright...
oh ok, cool :) As long as the window is open thats great for em. Some people leave em next to the window in a glass cage and ask why their cham isn't doing well and responders put their rage faces on. Just gotta experiment with everything. It sounds dangerous to just guess and have something...
With the vines, you could buy a bag of zip ties and zip the vines to the screen and cut off the remainder. Or you could do what I did and literally jam the vines through the mesh. Leaves small holes and ruins that bit of mesh, but holds very well lol.
I wouldn't put em next to the window...
Oh ya, so I posted another thread, but I forgot to mention some awesome news. So I dont handle either of my panthers Abby and Costello unless I need to, but after feeding Costello some superworms today, he started heading towards the opening of his cage and stared at me. I put my hand vertically...
Pretty similar to humans. Daylight = active, night = sleep. Mine lay down and close their eyes about half an hour before their lights go off. Since they are getting ready for bed, their digestive system slows, and eating isn't the best idea. But if hes eating, well, hes eating. I just wouldn't...
Hey guys, back again about my gravid panther. Shes dug herself a couple more holes in the dirt below her tree, but about 3-4 hours ago she dug herself near the bottom and has been pretty still in there. The dirt caved in a little from where she came from, but shes against the wall of the tub and...
Take numero uno! Already getting (his...) colors. Second is nice, but if you want a boy I would suspect the first one is a boy more so than the second one. Shorter nails, more color and a more pronounced head. But its up to you :)
So i just got back to my room tonight and there is a plethora of dirt mounds in her tub. She was black and sitting on her branch very flat. I think she laid them :). Ill check tomorrow and update, maybe with pics ;)
As long as he has all the basics for husbandry, just let him be for now. Free roam his food or have it in a dish/tupperware and let him re cooperate on his own. He shouldn't be sleeping during the day, and shouldn't be on the ground very much (if he is). You could do superworms, silkworms...
Can I look at her when she is in her tree and mist her so she gets hydrated? She goes up the tree and down to dig, up the tree and down to dig. Also, when shes done laying, will she bury the hole/tunnel? Would that be a dead giveaway she laid eggs?
Oh and my big reason for so many questions is I'm worried shes gunna lay eggs and I won't notice. My friend told me that you must remove the eggs and put em in vermiculite within 2 days, and that can be pushing it. Same case, I'm worried cause she hasn't eaten for a week since she is close to...
Sorry, gravid. Holding babies inside them. Shes dug a couple holes just straight down, but shes been back and forth to this tunnel. My friend suggested placing her in the tub and covering it over night. Recommended or frowned upon?
For my panthers, I switch between superworms and crickets. My girl constantly goes back and forth, and my boy only eats if its presented in a certain way. If you go with worms, try hand feeding, hanging them on the wall if its screen, or in a cup. Mine would eat all three originally, but now he...
Hey guys,
So I've been asking a ton of questions about my female panther Abby who is pregnant right now because the internet and books fail at informing me about laying eggs. She seems regularly sized right now, and I believe she mated 4-5 weeks ago. She has been digging in the bin of dirt at...
ok cool. She might be able to move from mealworms to superworms. I give my panthers superworms since they are fatty and cheap. Feed her daily or every other day depending on her preferences. Good luck with her and enjoy! Keep comin back with any questions!
First, yes, gravid and pregnant are the same.
Second, perfect name for such a pretty green cham :)
Third, she she definitely shouldn't be pregnant. I don't own veiled chams, so I could be wrong, but she won't be mature enough to breed/lay eggs until shes about a year old.
Fourth, she seems...
