I wanted to know if someone uses this product and how safe it is for their Chams. I have a serious ant problem. They keep sneaking in to eat cham debris. Seemingly overnight. They are trying to colonize in my plants. I need to find a repellent that works. (Hawaii is not always paradise)
I just set up my mist king. Its beautiful. But my chameleon still doesn't like the water. But she should like it more then my invasive spray bottle.
So what schedule should I set up? I teach middle school, and the chameleon is in my classroom. So I bought the mist king for the over the weekend...
So this morning I fed my chameleon as normal: 6 large crickets, dusted calcium w/o D3, into a cup w/ a Popsicle stick so they can escape, roam, and be hunted down. But I look over and this happened....
Somehow a cricket fell on top of my chameleon! And my chameleon was looking at her butt...
So I recently found that my chameleon likes to hunt down her crickets. So I've been setting them free instead of putting them in a cup. She usually eats them within 10 minutes. Today apparently, she either didn't notice, or is full and is letting a female cricket roam free. Well to my luck, the...
Current Issue - My female Jackson is doing a lot more gaping and roaming around the cage then before. She seems to prefer to hang out on the mesh sides rather than among the cover and is almost constantly gaping. But the temperatures in her cage have not changed, and if anything are lower (heat...
I normally feed my Jackson from a small cup in her cage. That way I know when she eats, how much she eats and I don't leave crickets in the cage overnight.
Today was the first day I've ever seen her hit the outside of the cup when attempting to catch a cricket (from below the cup). I've had her...
When I was working on draining water from the water collecting container today I noticed a very thin, but long, red worm. I immediately thought parasite. But its not on poop, or around poop that falls in the water. It is aquatic and trying desperately to crawl to a wet spot. Its a very mobile...
I have a potted hibiscus. Previously is was getting way to much water. I have fixed that, it now drains easily. However recently I removed the river rocks to given them a quick rinse (river rocks to cover soil) and I noticed that the soil is still staying very damp. The hibiscus doesn't mind...
Quick question:
I have a UVB bulb in a metal heat lamp. But I read that those don't double as basking lights. I have a thermometer right under the light and its reading right around 82 F. I read that this is the ideal temp for basking anyway. However today Maka-nui (Jackson Cham) was upside...
Greetings from Hawaii! I finally got my Jackson's Chameleon.
Yesterday I got the finishing touches for her enclosure: a timer for the light and bamboo for some more climbing surfaces.
Then I went to the store and picked up a chameleon. I should really say "saved" because she was one of 6...
So I had my enclosure all set up (still waiting to get the Cham). It sits on my counter under a window, it had a nice big hibiscus, a few twigs running lengthwise, a long vine (fake) running throughout. My students ask me everyday if I have a chameleon in the enclosure yet. But the pet store is...
I have a small-medium hibiscus... but I don't think it has enough climbing space. I want to add some horizontal branches/vines. But I can figure out how to keep them elevated. I tried to get some natural branches (I live in Hawaii... so its not difficult). I soaked and baked them... but now how...
Hi all! I just joined the forum and am in the process of setting up for my first chameleon. So I figured that I would post a general Hello! And see if I can gain any extra advice.
There have been a lot of new things for me lately. I just moved to Honolulu Hawaii from St Louis Missouri. Now I'm...
