Just curious what you guys think about the amount of ventilation in my enclosure that I'm currently building.. I have eight 2" round vents, four along each side.. should give aprox 25 square inches of ventilation..
In order to get more ventilation I could figure something out for a long...
I also use distilled water in my system and have not seen any sort of deposits in the hoses or nozzles yet.. I like using the distilled water over the tap water.. I have my own well and there is no chlorine in the water but there is calcium.. I sprayed my enclosure the first few times with tap...
Progress update.. Tree fern is Siliconed to the back and the vent holes are drilled in the bottom.. There is eight 2" vent holes.. Hopefully that is enough, I might be able to rig something up on the back if you guys don't think that's enough.. Door is assembled and has the first coat of varnish...

You will find everything you need right here. First thing off the top though is A basking bulb and a "normal" bulb are for the same thing, to provide heat.. You need a UV bulb and a basking bulb. The UV bulb provides UV radiation so that...
A mist king starter can run up to 10 nozzles I think.. More than enough for your enclosure.. You could probably run 5 of your cages with the mist king starter kit, just order extra nozzles, you'd want two or more in an enclosure your size.
That's what these forums are for! I would go for at least 3 coats of varnish over your stain, will look nicer and protect the wood as well.. remember to sand between coats to remove any imperfections.. with they way my enclosure is set up I also skimmed the wood on the inside with clear silicon...
I run my mistking into my dripper so that every time the mister comes on it adds water to the dripper.. works pretty good.. If you can't remove the nozzle from the flukers you can always get a valve and attach it to whatever you want.. Just be careful of the weight on top of the screen. Water...
Never tried the reptifogger.. I did some research on fogging systems because I was wanting fog in the cage for the humidity and it would look awesome! The reptifogger has a habit of burning out the little computer fan that blows the fog into the enclosure.. you can replace the fan with a better...
The enclosure looks to be a screen enclosure with the sides and back covered, so there should be all kinds of ventilation, definitely need more green in there though, a few of those fake vines wouldn't hurt either.. I agree with the previous posts about getting a perch closer to the heat light...
No problem! You can varathane over stain as well.. I've done this with the wooden doors in the house, does not affect the stain at all.. If the enclosure is made out of a soft wood like pine or poplar then you will want to use a wood conditioner on the wood first, it will give the stain a more...
Most of the GS is going to be on the white plastic on the back, and it has a rough surface so is should adhere to it nicely.. progress has been slowed down considerably since I'm waiting for the rest of the supplies to come in... Just been pondering what I'm going to do for drainage. The current...
That's the only reason I'm getting the pond stuff is for the color.. I'm going to be attaching drift wood, grape wood, and river wood inside the enclosure and som of it might be attached with silicone to the glass then the ends covered in foam.. Just waiting for the extra vents and GS to come in...
Got some tree fern today. It pays to flirt with the pet store girl, I got the exo-terra tree fern for $8.99 each. Employee discount ;). Siliconed them in. Had to order the great stuff pond foam since nowhere around here carries it. Hoping to have it by the end of the week. It's going to fill the...
Thanks! He is pretty cute! And friendly as hell.. Comes to the door every time I go to it and paws at the door till I open it and hold out my hand for him to climb on it.
It is red Oak.. I have three coats of varathane professional on the entire thing, and siliconed all the seams on the inside... That should provide enough water protection for the limited amount of wood on the inside. It will be at least 2 weeks before he goes into the enclosure since I want to...
Thanks.. Its going to be in the man cave so I wanted it to look as close to a piece of furniture as possible.. For the background I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with Great Stuff foam coated in something for 1/2-2/3 of the back and tree fern panels for the remainder.. only question I have and...
