I was looking at some of the reptile carpet stuff that is apparently made out of recycled bottles and I had a thought or two about it. I would like to get a sheet of it and put it on the back wall of my enclosure. I imagine this would hold some water to increase the humidity and it would also...
I have been noticing some strange punch marks in my pothos the last few days and I assumed Larry was takin some bites out of it. A few minutes ago he looked at me and took a ferocious bite out of a leaf. I know its pretty normal for veileds to chomp on vegetation, does this offer any nutrition...
I checked on him a few minutes ago and saw the white nostril on his right side but not his left side. He is really confusing me at this point
Tomorrow is his plain cricket day so I will see if it looks any different on Monday.
I recently upgraded Larry to a better enclosure that is 18x18x36. It allows me to see him more and I'm pretty sure his nostrils look the same as they have. I have been feeding him 6-8 crickets twice a day and for the last day or two, I have been using less calcium or no calcium for the second...
Don't have any pictures where you can see what I'm talking about. Larry is pretty camera shy and the white on the nostrils is incredibly small. I'm pretty sure he is fine to be honest but I figured it wouldn't hurt to get some opinions.
I have only heard great things about Screameleons. They are very well known and I'm willing to bet a lot of the forum members have ordered from them. Something worth keeping in mind is the health of the parent chameleons. I bought my male veiled from a local breeder and he is about ten to twelve...
When they are getting used to their surroundings they may stay in the UV and warmer areas at first. When I recently moved my 10 week old male veiled he hung around the top. Now he will travel towards downwards occasionally which is about a foot from the bottom of the enclosure, maybe a little...
I would put it in a spot that your chameleon frequents. If he is never near the bottom than I wouldn't put it near the bottom. If he is constantly hangin out there I would say go for it.
Most chameleons need a little time to adapt to a new home before they start acting normal. You could try putting some in a little tub or cup so he can feed from the top. Free ranging them is fine as well, you may need to make sure there is nothing that the crickets can eat that will be bad for...
I know if a veiled has too much calcium it will come out of their nose. Larry has two white dots for nostrils and i wasn't sure if this was calcium or just his nostril color. His crickets are being dusted lightly, I'm certainly not ghosting them. He gets calcium five days a week with Wednesday...
I set up my dripper in a spot that he is near pretty frequently and the dripper runs down a little ladder for a nice little run. I was watching him and he was under the ladder and shooting at the water drops with his tongue. I'm not sure if he thought it was food or if he thought that was the...
I have one of the reptibreezes and it works pretty well, my only complaint about it is the bottom pannel. It fits in the bottom but there is still enough space for water to seep through the bottom. Other than that minor issue (which is easy to fix) I can't say anything bad about it. The large...
What type of chameleon is that if you don't mind me asking? It looks like it has the casque of a veiled but I have never seen anything like that. It looks kind of gargoyle-ish and it's pretty incredible.
It is tilted as much as it can be, the white ceramic part catches on the top of the shelf. I think it is good where it is now. The digital temp probe reads 88 at the closest point he can get to and there are a few places he can climb on and rest on that will allow him to get heat without being...
The biggest problem is the clearance. The shelf is very helpful but the white ceramic part doesnt clear. I was able to angle it so it is under the shelf but not directly over the cage and as soon as I did Larry ran over to the branch and turned on his side. He followed this up with laying on the...
