    Looking for silkworms...

The ones I got from silkwormshop were large - I've previously only been able to find the small ones and successfully bumped them all off before they were large enough to feed out. I also have a bin of 2 week olds i hatched from Coastalsilkworm eggs and they are doing great. I'm hoping my luck...

    New and excited!!!!

ditto what CaptDan said - I just got a panther from Bruce (Chameleon Paradise) and he is amazing. 7 ish months old and his color is amazing. You may want to look at the list of vendors that will be at the show and reach out to them ahead of time and see what animals they will be bringing...

    Lighting and Misting questions

I have the same cage and a monsoon - I keep the nozzle pointed down and haven't had a problem. I try to direct the nozzle away from his basking spot, but onto the upper most leaves of the tallest live plant in there. This allows the water to trickle down the leaves. I did have a monsoon...

    Chams as a business

I too had a biz license for about 15 years. the last several I stopped doing shows and hence started recording annual losses - very minimal losses as I wasn't buying materials either (and as such hoped to fly under the radar) - and I believe it was about 3 years out I got a notice that I needed...

    Chams as a business

Last year I offered my services to a friend who opened a new Farm Store - I offered to obtain and hatch quality rare-breed chicks. Sounds easy and fun enough - heck I love hatching the little guys. It did not take long for the work to outweigh the fun. First, I work full time. Next, incubating...

    Help?

Do you have Animal Control officers and/or an SPCA or a Humane Society out there? You may want to give them a call and report cruelty. They may need some specifics from you (they usually deal with domestics and wildlife - rarely exotics). Usually a 1 day "notice to correct" is given; if not...

    LLLreptile screen cage water tray

I live in SF Area so there is not much humidity, and with my mister set to 2mins every 2.5 to 3 hrs I do not have water accumulation problems. When I had the near flood last week I am happy to report that both trays (I have my monsoon set to 2 cages and one terrarium) did not fill to...

    LLLreptile screen cage water tray

i got one for each of my LLL screen cages. The screen cages actually have a solid plastic bottom that fits into the bottom of the frame- then the whole thing fits into the tray. The trays saved my hardwood floors when my Monsoon went haywire and dispensed all of its water in one day. There is...

    Exo-Terra Monsoon

Unfortunately I read all the warnings after I bought the unit - mine ran great for 3 weeks and today I came home to 3 flooded habitats. Thought it was an anomaly and filled it again, fired it up and although set to 160 Seconds every 3 hours it just started going on and off randomly. Mine is...

Thank you - I'll be watching for muddy females!

    Rieppeleon brevicaudatus (Bearded Pygmy Chameleon)

How hard was it to find their eggs? I have 1.3 r brevs in a very well-planted terrarium. I can rarely find more than 3 of the adults at a time. I was thinking about letting nature take its course, I.e. If eggs are laid, just leave them to hatch (or not) in the terrarium. Have you ever let...

    Horizontal Branches

I used 1/2" dowels cut exactly to the width of my screen cage, and put thumb-tacks, pushed into the ends from the outside of the cage, into each end of the dowel. So far they seem to work great! Worst case, the dowel falls, but the tack on the outside of the cage will fall to the floor, not...

Too new to post in wanted ads...

I have 5 rescue dogs - 2 Great Danes, 2 bratty chihuahuas and a pit bull. The chis get the most jealous when we are in with the pacas and have figured out how to get into our chihuahua- proofed paca space. Fortunately the pacas are so used to the dogs (sleeping side by side from other side of...

Too new to post in wanted ads...

I plan on going to the rep show at the end of the month. I was a little concerned to hear there there may be fewer cham folks there. I am looking for pygmys - either 4 bearded or 4 r. temporalis (1 male, 3 females) - will there be any at the show? Id prefer not to ship if possible. Feel free...

    A very hard decision

Call your local animal control and ask if they'd do a wellness check. We get lots of calls like this, and to stop by and take a look, ask questions and even issue a 24 hr notice to correct is easy - and hopefully will improve the lives for these animals.
