For someone that is planning to use an Exoterra like me for keeping Montanes species pretty soon... I actually read every comment of each page... Quite informative and entertaining... Old thread but still some good info
Im in Northern California in the San Francisco area and i was wondering what u guys think would be best type of enclosures for Montane species?
Would the exoterra be better due to retaining humidity? Will that be enough air flow? I keep panthers now in screen enclosures but i cover 3 sides of...
He's technically not a chameleon but in the anole family but they are called False Chameleon due to their appearance and the way they act. Care is very similar to Panther and Veiled Chameleons. Very Hardy... Not many offered in the pet trade.

I played around with and without a basking lamp for both my Johnsoni and my willengensis and they both loved to bask so I decided to have both a basking lamp and UVB lamp in their enclosure.
He told me these were his 3Rd generation of Johnsonti babies...I not quite sure that that means if that means this is his 3rd batch. This breeder also breeds Quads,Veils and Xantholophus
There was a breeder in Northern Cafornia that breed these...He only had 3 males that he hatched out and I think his mating pair recently passed so he decided to sell off the males since he could no longer find a female.
I raised Panthers for over a year now with success so I recently picked up these Jacksons to try something different. I know they need lower temps and higher humidity....But any tips that Jackson owners can give me are greatly appreciated....

I was wondering if i need other lighting inorder to keep my Umbrella plants and other plants alive? Do i need another light just for my live plants to thrive?
So....if it hits 90 degrees for days...and I turn off the basking lights would u just keep the UVB lamps on for light or would u turn everything off. I have a lot of cages in my reptile room and it does heat up the room quite a bit...Im just preparing for when Summer comes since theres days in...
Im curious ...during the summer times when my house or room gets warm or hot... Do we still have to turn on the basking light or can we leave it off since the room is already warm and just keep the UVB lights on ?
also... Do u guys leave the basking lamps and UVB Lamps on for the same time...
I use a raindome from Aquazamp and have no issues with water coming out of cage... I also use aquarium backing (the scenic paper people use on the back of their fish tank) taped on the side to keep the humidity and it also looks cool cuz it has background decoration
