What does it mean when my chameleon opens his mouth in the sun?

He needs some shade. They tend to lighten in color and open their mouths to release heat. Make sure the little guy can get out of the sun.

Panther eating part of his climbing twig?

It's kinda bizarre. I have veileds that eat different plant matter, sometimes soil, but never have I seen a chameleon chew on a dead dry branch or twig. It's not like he's getting any moisture from it.

Panther eating part of his climbing twig?

Ok, for the last few days around this time, noonish. After a morning feeding,a misting, and about ten minutes after a healthy stool. My juvenile panther climbs down to the lower level of his cage, and chews off a piece of dried out grape vine. Anyone else ever seen this behavior?

Need help to descover informations about a lot of chamaleon

That's an awfully broad request. It would help to limit your search to a few chameleon species.

    Attaching branches?

Try using really small gauge wire, or small plastic zip ties. Even the ties from a loaf of bread works great. Just peel the coating off of the bread ties and they will fit thru the screen.

    In reference to classification

When dealing with Jacksons why do we sometimes see it named two different ways? We see Chameleo Jacksonii, and Trioceros Jacksonii. Which one is correct, and why?

    banded crickets...

The banded crickets are loud as heck. They have a real metallic sound if you ask me. They seem to really sit there and chew at the screen enclosure, and that's loud. So I make sure not to leave any wandering around in the enclosures over night.

    phoenix worms pupating

All I know is that they are readily taken as prey items when they have turned into flies. Im not sure how much the nutritional value has changed after they have pupated, but they do work as a good appetite stimulator when the occasional hunger strike ensues.

    Question about plant consumption.

I've noticed that all the veileds that I've had usually ate their plants. I'ts a natural way for them to hydrate themselves in the wild.

Lighting Question Repti Glo vs Reptisun

I normally go Repti Glo, but went with Reptisun linear because of availability. The new bulb seems to slightly pulsate. Don't know if anyone else has encountered this, or if it's a bad bulb.

    Chameleon Won't Eat

I've had that problem before, and i did the same thing with crickets. I thought maybe that he was a shy eater, and wouldn't eat if I was watching. So I would put 4 to 6 crickets in a cup, hang it from various perches, and get out of site, and come back to check on him in a couple hours. it...
