I don't think there is enough light indoors to produce fruit on trees unless you have some sort of high intensity discharge light above your cham cage. 4 or so linear fluorescent plant lights might do the trick, but I don't know how the chameleon would feel about that. I have often thought of...
Great Job
I do enjoy those colors you guys have, they are going to look very nice in the finished product. The dragonfly photo is very cool as well, it's totally unsuspecting. Awesome post!
These are so beautiful! Are they very small at this age? They look just like the big ones, however I've only ever seen pictures. I love the eye licking photo, how cool!
Cup feeding solves any possible escape problems, so you'll be set. I'd say it is possible for your chameleon to grow that much, they grow fast at young ages.
Many breeders use reverse osmosis water. Laminate wood is good and will work. Live plants are the source of humidity for cages with screen sides when you mist adequately.
If it's plastic, it's fine. The crickets could possibly chew through it if they were loose for a long time. I don't know about you but I don't have extra loose crickets in my cage. Sealant will do the trick for the wood.
short tupperware with a outer lip and a lid (cheap glad ware works well) filled with moist peat moss. crickets need 80 degrees or so to breed. hatching time depends on the temperature, about 1 week I would say at 80+. lower the temperature, hatching takes longer. keep soil moist while...
That back piece doesn't look bad at all. Is hardware net metal 1/4" square fencing? If it is metal, it is bad because the chameleons can damage their rostral processes and/or casques and toes by rubbing up against and climbing on the metal. Not to mention that stuff would eventually rust...
Ohhhh, it's a panther chameleon. $200 is a fair price for an adult panther, I would say, although if it's dumped off from a previous owner, you can't be sure of its health condition.
*Dodolah and Gesang beat me! Sorry Rocky.
The Parson's are expensive because they're very rare and no imports...
I have a cheap under-cabinet fixture from Wal-Mart that has some type of reflector underneath the light. Honestly though, if that works for you, sticking with it is fine. The only reason I said anything is because I have burned my indoor vegetables with foil reflectors, but I was using a plant...
Looks great, the baby will appreciate all the hiding spots, but I'm not so sure about the foil on the light. Foil does weird things when it comes to reflecting UV light, I know it can damage plants. It may be fine to leave it on there, however, I don't want to be negative because you've done a...
I think all fragrant woods (like pine) are not great, but I also think that if the wood is well coated with sealer, the fragrance won't cause aggravation.
