Cute! :p
Ender does about the same thing, except I think he's looking for food throughout the enclosure... most of the time the supers or hornworms will sit where I put them on the vines and he'll run around like he has to look for them anyway...
Oh well
You don't have to split them up. All of your roaches can stay in the same space.
I let my eggs, babies, smalls, mid sized, large and adults all stay in the same huge plastic bin with chicken egg cartons in it for them to climb all over and whatnot.
Just keep the food on one side of the bin...
I'm going to do cup feeding for Ender and Peter to make sure they're getting enough food for a while. I keep giving them roaches and it's hard to tell if the roaches are hiding or if they're getting them.
Would you guys mind posting some pics of how you have your cups mounted to your...
He doesn't look bad from the pictures. I would suggest filling out a https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-ask-help-66/ form, that'd help us determine what to suggest to help you out :)
Peter has bitten me twice now. It doesn't hurt bad, it just scares the living s*** out of me because it's startling :p
If you work with him enough, you'll probably be able to tame him a bit so he won't do that. Hand feeding is the best way to do that, if you can get him to trust you enough to...
Congrats on the new cham :)
Keep an eye on that little dripper. Sometimes they stop for no reason and you have to tinker with the flow for it to start up again. It's a bit of a pain but at least it's cheap :p
You can let the temps drop to about 60F at night, so you shouldn't have to worry...
Awesome, thanks for that info!!
Do you have care sheets on these so I could do it like you do? I only have 2 chameleons, so I might want to keep less at a time. Right now I have about 1500 roaches that I've been feeding off like crazy.
Do you think I could hot glue the rocks to the sides of the plastic pot? I have some glue--that'd save me money from having to buy other stuff to put under the rocks...
Oh, good idea. I have some of those in my tool shed--I'll try that out.
How much chow do you guys go through each month on food for these guys in a colony? I'm going to be starting one but want to make sure I can afford it.
I'm thinking about starting with hornworms both this week.
Thanks,
Dillon
How do you secure it to the space so it doesn't get moved? I'd want to make sure he can't just push it aside like he has been with the rocks...
He has some weird habits... this is definitely one of them. And he won't give it up, so far... He's literally pushed the rocks out of the hanging...
I gutload my roaches with lettuce, collards, kale, peaches, oranges, apples and banana. Crickets the same, although I haven't used those in a while.
Otherwise I don't do much gutloading besides the foof that comes with hornworms, butterworms, etc. that I get online. Once I get my own colonies...
Peter is insane...
He has 3 hanging plants in his enclosure: a pilea and 2 pothos plants. They all have river rocks over them so he won't eat the dirt, but it's not working!! :(
He is so desperate to eat the dirt that he literally will dig out a hole in the rocks and eat the dirt from...
