I started off my panther in a large cage. Considering he is really active, I think he enjoys his room to roam. Luckily for me, the first day he was hand feeding. Still hates cup feeding though.
I just feel so bad for it. The lady at the store was offended when i told her about it. She says its in good hands. I buy my crickets there every week. Its the closest besides petco, wich is over priced. If it wasnt for that, i dont know if i would go again...
I've started making room for a new meller's. Theres a couple things i need first to do so im not quite ready.
A store near me has a meller's cham but I'm worried about it. Not only do they have subtrate wood barks in the cage that I watched (him/her) swallow when going after a cricket. But...
Just kidding. He was standing like this for a bit. Also some pics of him from when I first got him. He's growing so quick! I might have over done it with pics, sorry. lol
:)
He walks amongst us.
The great escape.
Here's a pic with eco carpet
Here's with artifical grass.
I got it from Craigslist since the bigger companies don't like to cut pieces small enough for a cage. I paid $5 for it. Just make sure it's pet friendly, has a high drainage capacity, and isn't too high of grass that...
Eco Carpet looked cool, but it was such a hassle to have to clean. I had to let it dry out so bacteria would not breed weekly. With all the misting it easily held alot of water, but then again I hadn't figured out drainage quite well at the time.
I went with artificial grass about 2 months...
I have both. I would say a screen cage is the best option. Its easier to maintain, you can see through it easily. If you have the extra bucks. You cant go wrong with a screen cage.
