    Question about parasites

All good info except pinworms are species specific so luckily almost impossible to spread around. But just substitute that for coccidia and it’s golden advice. :)

    Deworming as a standard?

I do prefer ponazuril for coccidia. Albon tends to work well for coccidia in dogs but not as well in reptiles. The downside is that ponazuril usually had to be specially ordered from a compounding pharmacy to get the right size dose for a little reptile. Albon can sometimes decrease appetite and...

Panther Chameleon has been very sick for 4 weeks and no improvement with many vet visits.

Unfortunately the bloodwork doesn't have any notable abnormalities to help lead us to the problem. Most likely it is not a primary problem with the eyes but something internally causing him to feel poor. But there isn't any anemia or evidence of significant inflammation or infection. The glucose...

    Using Baytril

Per the quote you referenced from me in your post, this is not appropriate information to share. What is the concentration? 0.03ml of a 20mg/ml concentration is very different than 0.03ml of one that is 100mg/ml. Also that quote was from a 2011 thread. Please start a new thread if you have...

    3rd time egg laying

Thank you for helping narrow things down! The passed slugs are concerning because none of those follicles would be that big if passed based on that x-ray view. So that would be more consistent with a clutch that was in the process of development but is regressing now. She may have passed the...

    3rd time egg laying

I'm sorry I don't have time to read through this whole thread but based on that x-rays those are not eggs that will be laid any time soon. They are very small and in a tight cluster so either just starting to form, or a clutch that is being resorbed (less common). They could still be causing...

    terramycin (oxytetracycline hydrochloride)!???

Hi there. That was a thread from 10 years ago, before I was even a staff member btw. And Kinyonga explained the reasons for the flippant response perfectly. Let us know if you need further help on your own thread.

    I have too many animals

It’s much more potent to amphibians compared to mammals in both captive and wild ones.

    I have too many animals

They’re pretty derpy too. These aren’t my snakes but this is classic for them! They try to eat their food sideways more often than not and get confused easily. My male Sketti the other day missed his pinky and bit himself and it took him longer than it should have to figure that out and try...

    I have too many animals

They have a mild venom that can be very irritating to some people. They have rear fangs so to envenomate you they kind of need to chew on you. Luckily I don’t have any reaction to it but some people get swollen fingers because of it if they get bitten.

    I have too many animals

Captive bred ones are started on mice so that’s no problem but they still can be picky. My littlest male didn’t eat for 7 months! Didn’t lose weight so just waited him out for a while. Eventually used toad scent on his pinkies to get him eating then he hasn’t stopped since.

    I have too many animals

Very chill! Every once in a while they get surprised and feisty but it’s brief and they’re more bark than bite. Penne the female gets so excited to eat that she’s bitten me on accident more than once. But she just REALLY wants her food!

    I have too many animals

This is Penne, Sketti, and Ramen :) I treated a female for being egg bound (ended up needing to surgically remove two eggs) and I just fell in love with the species! Penne and Sketti are siblings and they’re all still babies but growing quick and I just love them!

    Rotting stomach on female

That is a color change of the skin itself, not rot or fungal or skin infection. The color change in the skin can be a response to external or internal factors. External may have been trauma - she fell or got poked that area. I’ve seen chameleons do that after giving an injection through the skin...

When are you NOT gut loading?

I consider it always gutloading because I always keep good foods in with the bugs. I guess it's semantics on which way you look at it. ;) But there's no reason why you wouldn't want them to have access to the nutritious foods that will allow them to pass on those nutrients to what eats them.
