He will fire up alot but can be rather dull at times especially when he's close to shedding. The first pic is the beginning of the transformation. I have lots of eggs incubating from this guy!!!
You don't really have to have a bin in their cage. When they are near or on the bottom of the cage it's time to either put a bin in the cage or move her to a bucket.
When you can really feel the eggs inside her towards her hind legs she around 1 week from laying or less in my experience. If...
Lotta people like the 5.0's. If you ever get access to a UV meter check out the amount of UV you lose through the screen. The amount of UV also drops off signifiantly as you get further away from it. For this reason I use all Reptisun 10.0's.
I use a Top Soil and Play Sand mix. I like a good amount of sand to soften the soil. The color should be greyish and it should hold a burrow. My animals don't lay in their cages, when it's time I put them in a 5gallon bucket full of the mixture with a screen top. They will dig to the bottom of...
No need to ever spend $1,500 on an incubator. Building one is the cheapest and best way IMO. I use a 6ft tall glass front commerical fridge with 5ft of 17in heat tape along the bottom and back wall connected to a helix. It works great! No need to spend the big bucks. My most expensive componet...
I've seen a rat touch the tail end of a streached out 4-5ft gaboon. The gaboon did a flip and grabbed the rat. It happened so fast, I was in Awe! They are very quick when they want to be, far quicker then any human reaction. Just gotta be very careful and know what your doing. My friend has 1.2...
Sounds good, Leaving a female alone isn't going to kill her. She will be just fine for a day or two. Keep checking on her and she will become stressed and that could cause them not to lay. Beyond a day or two I would worry, it didn't come to that though!
Now you know for next time to just leave her be. When she's done she'll burry the eggs. I've disturbed females from time to time and they will always finish what they started. I have plants in their enclosures but if I catch them digging I move them to a 5gal bucket to do their business in...
Well I'm looking to pick up a DSLR. Which do you have or recommend and why? My price range is $800-1200 (maybe more). The camera will be used for reptiles and family pics mainly. I'm currently looking at the Nikon D90. Thanks in advance!
If you have another male to show your currently male that helps. I don't know why but everytime I give the chams a heavy misting the males go nuts! Worth a try. I would take the female and put it really close to the male. He will usually open his mouth and beef up, then let her crawl away...Good...
I picked up this guy and 2 females from Marty here in Coral Springs, FL. Marty has some amazing animals, much of my stock came from him! I have still yet to see him fire up, but I can't wait!!!
