    Swollen foot (Jackson) ?

I've got a female xanth that had a foot issue when I got her that looked almost identical. From what I've read it could be a few things- trauma from being caught/transported, calcium deficiency, or MBD. It may not ever go away completely (as with my female) but it could get a little better if...

    Female Xantholophus

I've got a female xanth that's almost a year and a half and a male that's about nine or ten months so he's got a little ways to go before he's big enough to even make an attempt. I've posted pictures of them around here somewhere...the girl has no horns at all...not even nubs...and the boy has...

    Very Excited!

Hmmm...a blatant disregard for wildlife...you mean like going out onto a nature reserve and "raping" (as you say) these animals of their natural habitat? EVERYONE who's in bed with a politician or gets in good with some local authority (who couldn't care less about some obscure species of...

    just got a new jacksons

Here's a site I came across when I was first looking into getting my chameleon. Gives a lot of information specific to jacksons. http://www.geocities.com/chamjacksonii/index.html Happy reading. :)

    uvb light

Ok...after looking into a bit more...glass filters 95%...not 100. So it would be better to have him by even a closed window than to have him in the corner of the room if you have no other source of UVB.

    uvb light

Natural sunlight is best...but I've heard that the glass panes in your window can filter out a lot of the UV. So if it's warm enough, open your window during the day.

    Body condition and feeding rates

The guy I got my male jacksons from breeds his own bugs for all his herps and always has an overabundance of everything....except roaches. Ironically, they absolutely refuse to breed. Go figger.

    What are your chameleons names?

Mohandas Gandhi and Lucia (the local barkeep who remembered my birthday loooong after she stopped checking my ID. She's also kind of a big woman, just like my Lucia :D )

    Mauled by my veiled.

Next time you get bitten (and you KNOW there's gonna be a next time) try diluting some betadine in warm(almost hot) water until it looks like tea. Then soak your hand in it for 20minutes. Do that once a day for a few days lessening the duration of the soak each day and you'll be fine. The...

    My dear friend Mr. Gandhi...

Thanks! I'm very happy with how he's turning out. Stunning good looks, charming personality, this cham's got it all. :D I got my boy from a family friend who's had one breeding pair for almost ten years now. Beautiful chameleons...very big and had incredibly strong grip...almost felt...

    Multiple Accounts

Lol, yeah I thought of that after I posted...definately should be taken on a case by case basis. Like, there's an obvious difference between two established accounts (each posting individual coherent comments) and one established account who starts a thread trying to sell something and gets...

    Should you handle your chameleon?

My female jackson's runs for cover whenever I reach in her cage. My male (who I've had since he was a baby) doesn't mind at all and is very cooperative when I need to take him out to clean his cage. He'll even crawl toward me when I reach into his cage and almost leap onto my hand all the...

    Multiple Accounts

Is there a way you guys can see everyone's IP and check for duplicates? Just ban people you see logging in under multiple usernames at one IP. I'm not sure how difficult that is to accomplish but I've heard of people doing it on other forums.

    Reptisun VS Reptiglo

The window is open most of the time. I also take him outside every few days. I just like to have a few tube lights around in case for whatever reason I'm not able to leave my window open. 90% of the time though, the window being open is not a problem. Next time I'm at the reptile shop I'll...

    My dear friend Mr. Gandhi...

You can almost see the crickets life flash before it's eyes...still haven't been able to get a shot of the actual moment of impact...but I will eventually! :D

    gutload?

How do you guys maintain your cricket cages without the mess/stink getting out of hand? When I put fruit/dry gutload/collard greens in my little cricket cage I try to keep the dry stuff in one bottlecap and the greens in a different area but things always end up getting all mixed in with the...

    Pink Urates...Help!!

She's got enough foliage to hide behind and cooler areas of her cage to run off too...I really think her location is ok because I've been watching her and the temps pretty close and I've been getting the spot ready since before I got her...nothing gets out of acceptable range for what her...

Gorgeous Blue Bar Ambilobe - hatched in June

The reason I say that (And I didn't mean to sound so negative, I just say things the way they pop into my head  ) is because I just discovered the screameleons site and everything is around that price or less....so I would assume that to be like the market equilibrium price. When...
