She does not have a website. Well at least she didn't when I bought from her. She does a couple of the bigger shows in the states and it seems like every time I see her, she's practically sold out of everything she's got. Let me see if I can go dig up some old emails and get you her address.
Hey Jonathon,
Have you contacted Connie Dorval from Arboreal Exotics? I know she's a breeder in Canada and she definately does both Nosy's and Ambanjas. As far as anything else I'm not sure. One of my Nosy's is from her. I was very pleased with her service, and I've never had any health...
Alot of times they really dont like it when you spray them directly. They will show you this by sometime shaking their heads back and forth, showing aggression towards the water, running away, or just kind of clamming up into a somewhat submissive stance. In my experiences I've found that...
I used to work at a pet store that would get in ridiculously dehydrated chams from reptile wholesalers. Against my advice.....we used this soak method a couple of times on some various montane species. It didn't work....at all. It seemed everyone we soaked died...which may have ended up...
This is just my opinion, and if anyone knows anything differently please correct me on this.
In my experience, when either my misting system goes off, or I manually mist my chams cages, the water beads up on their skin and rolls right off. Kind of like it does when you waterproof your deck...
Before I came upon these hybrids I never put much thought into hybridizing my animals because I never had any intention of using my animals to produce hybrids. It has only been just recently that I've been giving it alot of thought.
I think my conclusion would have to be that although I dont...
Thanks chris. It seems everyone keeps making very solid points for the pure locale argument.
I'm in agreeance that breeders should keep there pure locale stock pure. I do think it would be counter productive to take pure stock and use it to creat hybrids. Not so much in the case of males...
You should go ahead and check out jenna's site www.prismchameleons.com. She's still under construction but she's got a good bit of info on there about panthers.
Another couple sites to get you started with panthers.
www.chameleonsonly.com
www.screameleons.com
www.chameleonparadise.com...
I've emailed a couple of the bigger breeders, including the ones who's names i've used in this thread ,so as not to be speaking behind their backs, to ask them their opinions. Jim Flaherty at the Chameleon Company just got back to me and had this to say.
"I have no ethical dog in the hunt...
Heika,
i missed your last post. You make good points. I agree that hybridizing in the wild between certain locales is highly unlikely. Especially between animals from places like St. marie and Ambilobe. But with the locales that are closer to each other, who's to say it doesn't happen all...
Thanks for the input Heika. So far i'm very impressed with the pureist argument both you and jenna have put up. It makes alot of sense, I'm not denying any of that.
I want to make perfectly clear that all of the pure animals in my collection will be used for nothing but pure locale breeding...
Thanks for the opinion Jenna. I must say that it looks very well thought out.
The problem I'm having with decided whether to agree with it, or disagree with it is this.
How do we know nature didn't intend for there to be a few unique crosses in the wild? Whether they get there by truck...
Please feel free to correct me, or disagree with me on any of the points or ideas I put out there on this thread. I'm very open to criticism and other ideas about this subject.
I had that happen a couple of times as well. Does anyone here know if the nutritional value is the same? Different? Bad? Good? For better or for worse...in sickness and in helth.....so on so forth. Any info would be great.
I'm interested to see what everyones opinion on crossing panthers is. I know alot of private breeders, big and small that disagree with it totally. But I also see places like the Kammers breeding crosses and coming up with some really amazing colors.
I havn't produced any hybrids myself, but...
I couldn't agree with you more jenna. You've laid out some very good points and reasons why to buy from a private breeder. I can also attest to the fact that the animals I've purchased from private breeders have been much nicer animals and each one of them is represented 100 time better than any...
interesting thought. Where did you hear it? Was it a credible source? If so that would be very good to know. I very rarely use it in my gutload recipees. I havn't noticed anything bad happen, but I probably dont use it enough to create a problem. Could you point me in the direction of that info?
You might want to try taking the moss out and replacing it with romain lettuce, or some other kind of leafy green. This way she'll be eating something that's good for her.
