What? your a cham owner and you dont have a pair?!!! LOL :D
Setup a dripper and offer a range of feeders of suitable size. The cham is probably trying to get more water by eating the fern. :) Are you sure boston fern is a non toxic plant?
I've not had a chameleon die, but my first lizard death was a bearded dragon I had owned for some years. He developed a penchant in his 5th year, for eating anything brightly colored. He was always well fed and very healthy, but one day I caught him trying to eat the rubber suction cap from a...
I suggest a better dripper system. See this post for an idea.
Your lizard looks quite 'robust' to me, if not a little overweight looking at the legs and tail,
feeding is not an issue. :)
Sorry, Heres that Link. :)...
Thankyou Tandra Lee, kind of you to say so. I wish it were possible for me to broaden my collection to involve many other cham species I cant own here, that way I could offer more help, but I do learn much about other species anyway, I just enjoy other peoples chameleons with them here instead...
Great Thinking Kara, I use frozen ones for feeding my turtles and fish (after thawing).
Good safe 'environmentally friendly' method of disposal.
That said, Im sure it's more likely they very quickly became wildlife meals than wildlife pests, but Carlton is right, try not to do that if you can. :)
I will attempt to translate for you. :)
Jeanette, If your 40 temperature is a Celsius reading, thats way higher than it needs.
A max Basking temperature of about 34c will be high enough.
Your tank is glass will hold the heat.
Its now clear to me that your lizard is gaping to moderate its body...
Converting a small fridge can be done easily enough, as long as the seals on the door are in good shape itll do great. If you need some tips on "how-to", let me know, otherwise post pics when its done please. Go For it! :)
Yeah mate go for it, the Vit A liquid capsule Thing might work for you on an insect, if you think it might have a difficiency, be sparing and it certainly wont hurt it.
Let us know how it goes for ya. :)
"Eh He He He, Oh My Word Yes, They're Gonna eat Your neighbour lawns to Dirt, possibly becoming a plague which may starve and become attracted to human flesh and go on a feeding frenzy consuming everything in their path!"
"Eh He He he!" :D
:) NO!
Interesting Insight Ace, maybe sometimes our memorys take on a life of their own!
~Sinister voice~
"They do in a certain unfamiliar place, a place not unlike our own, A little darker and not as brightly lit!
You have crossed over to.... *Cue theme*,.... The twilight Zone!"
"Do do, do do, do do...
Ace,
your animal is pretty much an adult now, a decrease in eating is normal and likewise, decreased poop frequency. They get lazy, they seem to understand their feeders cant go far and there may be less appeal to shoot from a distance if they can just amble on over nice and close. Captive bred...
Either way, it needs to be rectified now. This lizard will dehydrate quickly holding the mouth open constantly, this is not a good thing.
P.S I strongly suspect this was a case of follicular stasis . Not that it matters now.
Some reading for the OP...
Funny little lizard, he looks great! Both mine are mid slough right now, today the girl will 'explode' it off, as usual, homer will take his sweet time, this leg, a bit on the head, some of the tail etc for a few days. :)
I always use hot water, mice and microwave ovens dont mix either. If you ever had toss a microwave because the inside was splattered with rodent guts, you'll know why. Yes it happens, quite often. :)
defrosting frozen cubes will be easy enough, longer on lower heat, also you can add gelatine to...
