    Household CFL with UVB output?!?!

I guess you are talking about this? http://www.uvguide.co.uk/phototherapyphosphor.htm That is a very definitive comment. I have used compact UV lights for a long time. The problem in the product is strongly linked to the first burn-in time, and most companies seems to have addressed this...

    Additional animals in chameleon cage

No herptiles should be mixed, simple as that. One or all of the animals will always suffer, nomatter if its due to different habitat recuirement or interaction. I sometimes see the argument "but these two species come from the same geographical area". That may be, but I will bet you my right...

Why do UK Cham keepers get away with glass?

No, no fans needed. The reason we use glass terrariums in europe is because its the most effective way to keep a stable habitat of your choise inside. I have used glass terrariums to all my chameleons at one point or another, never had any problems. There is a vicious rumor going like...

    Dripper help please!

I always build my own dripper with old soda bottles, air regulating valve (for aquarium air pump hoses), and some silicone. I like the "T" shaped valves where the "I" in the "T" is a screw that chokes the air, they give the best regulation posibilities. If there is no drainage in the cage, I...

    Hard Water?!

You can buy a osmosis filter, they are usually sold where salt water aquarium accessories are sold. Its commonly called reversed osmosis, the water you get is very good for misting. I use this filter myself as we have some of the hardest water in Sweden where I live.

Have you tried feeding it outsida once it is awake? I hate to sound lika a one trick pony, but lighting could be the key. What kind of light do you have indoors?

    Male Veiled not eating

I dont see any need for what you recommend. If the bulb is actually producing heat and UV (and we can only know what we are told here) more heat and UV is hardly something that is obviously lacking.

Vieled Cham skin peeling? -thought it was shedding but after 20 hours i'm doubtful

Ive had calyptratus in outside cages for months (all around the clock), and I live in Sweden. They seem to thrive from that. I am not a believer of getting reptiles "hand tamed". If anything its the people whe get "tamed", learning to handle the animal better. There is no reason to try to get...

    Flagyl (metronidazole)

Flagyl is commonly used to get rid of protozoa. "Back in the days" Flagyl was a good way to kill of you reptiles, meaning it was used badly causing more damage than it did good. So, sure there are side-effects. It should only be used with a vets directions, you might find better answers...

But, is that all the light there is? If so, see my earlier post.

    What colour gloves?

Its just a matter of technique. Dont grab the animal. I usually put one hand somewhere in front of the chameleon, slightly under its position and hold it still. I then reach in fron the opposit side with the other hand, "scaring" it onto my first hand that I then move out of the cage. This...

    Male Veiled not eating

I dont think hes full after 9 days. Try the cupfeeding idea with a variation of feeders. Also, as I just wrote about it in another thread I can write it again, I have had great success with increasing the light. Daylight tubes are great, I also use cheaper low energy bulbs. In some cases I...

Vieled Cham skin peeling? -thought it was shedding but after 20 hours i'm doubtful

Young chameleons shed much faster as staded above, its quite humorous some times as it look liks they just exploded in a cloud of shedded skin. Like cotton candy. About the "not eating" part, you really should stop handling him. No reptiles have any bennefit from it, its actually harmful in...

    Fascinating brevicaudatus behavior

Interesting, like I said. Maybe you need to start recording your future nightly visits so we have something to play back in our future experiments...

    Ants in feeder enclosures

Could you make any kind of water traps for the ants? I often find that to be a cheap and simple solution. There is a substance used in the university lab that is painted on surfaces that insects should not climb on, it becoms almost like a chalk when dried. Cant remember the name now though, no...

Vieled Cham skin peeling? -thought it was shedding but after 20 hours i'm doubtful

That looks like a normal shedding veiled to me. There are no visual sighns of dehydration, but you might want to help the shed along by misting a bit more when in shedding. Dont leave crickets with the chameleon around the clock, take rthem out if he doesnt feed on them in a few hours. Put...

    Do chameleon eggs move?

I have never experienced eggs moving visibly, but surely when the fetus is large enough it should theoretically be able to move slightly in the egg... I always tilt my egg-boxes so that condensation just runs down the side. I also use transparent lids for the egg-boxes so I can check on them...
