"Show Me Your Setup" Up Close and Personal.

The cages LLL has are the same ones I get. They come with a couple of tie downs (for lack of a better term) that screw into the cage's frame. You can hang biovine in there or make a support to hang a hanging plant. It's a new feature of the cages now. I think you'll like the cage. They're...

Pesticide Free Trees - Los Angeles

If anyone in the Los Angeles area is interested in buying trees for their cham cages, listen up. I'm going to be picking up a large order (large for me anyway) of pesticide-free, organic trees grown and kept in a pesticide free environment. I'll be making the drive on the weekend of the 21st...

    C. Cristatus egg laying problem

I would dilute it with some water, about 50/50 and just give her as much as she wants. I've had good results with this when rehydrating rehabs. It isn't a cure, just helps get electrolytes in her as well as fluids. Sorry I don't respond very quickly.

    C. Cristatus egg laying problem

She has to lay those eggs. She's already pushing them out if that one you saw was indeed an egg. I'm not in favor of oxytocin but that's a choice we all have to make. For hydration, you can provide pedialyte through a dropper and just give her the amount she wants. Not too fast either. Good...

    !!help is my graceful sick!!!

How long has he been acting differently? When I notice something change, a fecal test is a good start to determining what is/isn't wrong. These guys can get a little muddy looking when they aren't feeling so good.

    Another horrible encounter with PETCO..

It's always worth the effort to go in and help a chameleon (or any animal in despair) by explaining what you see. Don't get emotional though. Just express what you see wrong and help them fix the problem. If it's just a matter of changing lighting or raising temps or providing water, some pet...

    33 Rudis gone...

I feel bad for you. All of that work and to lose them all so quickly. Doesn't matter how much experience one has, you can lose a lot of animals with one little mistake. I've heard this close to a dozen times, experiences just like yours. Please don't give up. That's all I can say. Don't...

    Rescues in Southern California

Hey Guys, I haven't been around here much but I appreciate the continued referrals from this forum. I've been able to help out several chameleons because of it and have moved them on to great new homes. I'm usually available by phone but beginning next week I will be unavailable in the...

    Lethargic and Skinny

Hi, If he's lethargic, the first thing I would do is increase his hydration by getting him to drink from a pipette. I've used clear Pedialyte to get them started then followed up with filtered water. This can help pass things through the GI tract and they get a little energy from the...

Going dark, walking on ground, clawing at glass.

If he's 3 weeks old then the glass tank is fine. Save your money to make a good set up when he gets a little older. He needs humidity when that young. But the position of your lighting is not beneficial to him. You will need to place the UVB light over the enclosure. Regarding the yellow...

Is there a chameleon rescue in the Los Angeles area?

My job is to provide a temporary home until a permanent suitable home can be found for the chameleon. In the cases where a chameleon is disabled, very sick or injured in any way, I consult with my vet and then wait to see if the chameleon can recover. If it does, then it gets adopted out. If...

    Freak Accident!!!!!!!! Need Help!!

That's what I was wondering and why I posted about having a vet suture the area closed. I figured that Chris would have a pretty good idea. That bone is normally enclosed in the tongue tissue.

    Freak Accident!!!!!!!! Need Help!!

Wouldn't there be a problem with having an exposed bone? My vet performed two surgeries on chameleons that were in really bad shape to remove the tongue because of permanent damage and in both cases, he sutured enough of the tongue to cover their hyoid bone. If there is nothing to cover the...
