    Why are panthers so expensive?

I was at a reptile show and there were two booths with sky-blue morphs of a green tree snake who wanted $15,000 apiece. They were trying to decide how to get their two very valuable blue snakes together to mate, as no one wanted to part with their own mutant. Anyway, when I asked what to do with...

    Why are panthers so expensive?

Hello, I'm a Jackson lover, but have raised panthers. I miss the fluorescent colors of the adult panther males and have seen a few in person that would put any parrot or peacock to shame. It cost me in the past $300 in supplies and food to raise a litter of Jacksons before they were sent at four...

    new pair of Jacksons

Hey, another Jackson lover! My trio is about 2yo, came from Florida and are most certainly wild caught. I was unaware that there are populations in the wild except for Hawaii, and I paid only about $100 for the three. Then the female dropped a litter of 9 (10, one died) on 12/24/11. I assume my...

    The Jackson Nine

Hello adoptive parents. Hey, tell me about silk worms. First, I loathe crickets, but I can handle it, 1500 at a time (but Deb might kill me while I'm sleeping). The only time we bought silk worms was for practice, and ended up with VERY fat tree frogs and a bunch of silk that we spun off. It...

    The Jackson Nine

Our kids named the two adult females Fluffy and Snowball, and the dad Jermaine (as in Jermaine Jackson, get it?). Since they came on Christmas Eve and there was 10 (one RIP) the kids named the babies after the reindeer (hold onto your hat): Juno, Dasher and Dancer, Prancer and Vixen, Comet and...

    The Jackson Nine

You can thank my wife Debbi who was OBSESSED with the babies the first time we got a litter and we learned alot (she was pregnant and a little baby crazy). Now's it's easy. Being a biologist in a previous life I can set up fruit fly cultures and feed them by the thousands to my hatchlings for...

    The Jackson Nine

Hey, this is fun. I'd love to pop out a few more litters and send them out. The experience is worth any headache and expense. Maybe someday I'll attempt an egg-laying species, but it seems like too much work and worry.

Fed Ex package #1 goes out tomorrow, and a pair of babies are already in their new home nearby. I'll try to post photos of the parents, and can you adoptive parents post...

Hello lizard lovers. A robust litter of 9 Jacksons was delivered unexpectedly on 12/24/12, and now at 4 months are ready to be adopted into your loving arms. I've got 6 females left, as the litter was almost entirely girls, and the two males are spoken for. Satisfied lizard friends/adoptive...

    Why bother with big cages?

I freerange the crickets in the cage, and they just go UP too, toward the lights, so the chams just sit and wait. I've considered putting the bugs in a tub on the floor to make the lizards go down for exercise. The huge cages just seem like a waste.......................
