Purple Ambanjas
I just posted a picture of an amazing purple banded ambanja this morning on my blog. Its one that I hatched out about 6 years ago. Wish I had him back.

85 to 90 sounds right if they can get away from the heat. So for a more insulated cage (like glass), you need to run a low wattage heat bulb. But for an all screen enclosure, a higher wattage bulb is best. Depends on the size of the cage. For example, I run a 40 watt bulb for my bearded...
Depends. I think a gravid female panther is more aggressive than a male Veiled. The females get surly! Hands down though, male veileds are more aggressive than male panthers in my experience.
I wouldn't do it. It obviously gets dewy in the morning and rains at night. I know that cavemen lived in those kinds of conditions, but I'm sure some of them had their immune systems compromised and died too. Maybe, just maybe for some types of chameleons it might be helpful...but I wouldn't...
I don't think either will like it, but you have to also think of the dragon. Mine gets upset whenever any type of lizard is in view. He's constantly bearding and bobbing his head.
No, I'm not saying they are diffent morphs. I'm just saying that I believe if two chams of the same morph (from the same region), I think it is in the breeder's best interest to breed it with the same color because many (but not all) people make their decision to purchase a panther based upon...
I would try to breed with the most similar looking background. That way, you would have animals with a greater chance of looking like their papa. I'm a purist, and don't like mixing morphs. I do understand its an opinion thing. But when I buy an animal, I buy it based on what the father...
Thats what I heard. I asked a buddy to find a collared lizard for me and he didn't find one. Said lots of snakes, and he was amazed at how many people were trying to sell orange colored geckos. He said people wanted too much money for bearded dragons.
I'd heard in the past that Daytona is...
You might be able to save him
Looking at the picture, it looks like he is prolapsed. A vet might be able to fix this.
I have to admit, though, that I have spent lots of money at the vet and still lost chameleons. You have to catch them before they go too far downhill, otherwise, no amount...
Chris,
Awesome photos. I noticed the yellow underbellys. One of them has a pink underbelly. I remember about 5 years ago I had a panther that must have been an ambilobe before they called them that. Stunning shades of pink on the underbelly and I could not figure out at the time what it...
Too true. What does a panther look like from halfway between the two locations? What do you call it? :) I think Kingsnake did a great thing by trying to pin down the morphs with pictures, but their website says that Ambanjas only have dark stripes, and thats all they show, yet I know there...

This guy agrees with me about the yellow color thing.
There's a bunch of stuff in there about a Picasso debate. I don't want to get into that. But I do think yellow is the division line between the Ambilobes and...
So my question is...since ambanjas can have sky-blue or turquois banding, and red in the underbelly, how does the marketplace distinguish them from anilobes. I always thought that the distinguishing feature was yellow or orange in the belly. Without yellow or orange in the belly, its an...
Before you take him to the vet, be sure and try giving him a shower. Just put him on a plant, and put him inside a warm (but not hot) shower stall. Perhaps locate him where the water bounces off the shower wall first. It will be like he's in a rainstorm. Sometimes chams can get debris in...
Oh, BTW, if you have the brand name of those calcium drops, I'd sure like to know what it is. My local vets won't even consider selling me meds for a cham without a visit...and half the time, I know what the problem is. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the best reptile vet in these parts...but I'm...
