When we read we guess at words by looking at size and the first and last letters (tahts wyh yuo cna raed tihs qiukcly) and your post title threw me off for a second. I thought I might not be the only person coming in to check out a thread about vegetarians, if I had read veterinarian I'd not...
It seems like an odd marketing ploy for him to tell me they are unimpressive and poor sellers and then to keep none of the stock for breeding. I'm guessing marketing isn't your dayjob
I don't know that this male has anything whatsoever to do with those (my posting here was in hopes of...
No wonder topics go astray, for a second I thought you were asking about vegetarians. I had an old male chameleon that refused to eat anything but privet leaves.;)
Do you have any lobsters available to try? I've had some veileds that just don't like Blaptica dubia (or Blaberus and other feeders with mottled color and a thicker shell) but have never had one that refused lobsters - large nymphs.
There seems to be some confusion about the existence of the 'desert' Calyptratus in the US. The breeder I got this guy from had available babies of the 'desert' species he produced from wild adults less than a year ago. I saw the babies in person but not the adults. He said they were poor...
A male veiled that's large enough to eat normal crickets. Depending on where you are you may be able to get some super cheap wild caught of other species. They may be fun to try but those aren't recommended to beginners since they rarely do well and may sour a person's feelings for chameleons.
I apparently didn't explain his colors. THIS PHOTO SHOWS HIS ANGRY COLORS!!! He looks like a female panther when he's not angry. If that were just his normal coloration and he had cool angry colors I probably woudn't have used the word ugly.
Yes, the white is part of his shed and it fell off...

I tried to attach the photo after the fact and am getting error messages. Trying again.

I couldn't get it to attach so I loaded it in the gallery.
One thing that makes me wonder beyond the lack of normal coloration...
I picked up this male (said to be six months old) at a show last month. I got him only for the purpose of avoiding inbreeding. I did notice he was really ugly for this species but now I'm wondering if he's the 'desert species/subspecies' since his coloration is nothing like any veiled I've ever...
I cup feed with 16oz. deli cups. I use either teflon paint or vaseline and feed using lobster roaches. They never get out. In some cages I just set the cup down, in other's I have to wire it on so the chameleon doesn't turn it over. It works really great and they never get out. The lizards get...
It's hard to get a good photo, it doesn't look as deep as it is but you can see he went through the fingernail. The second pic is after a week of healing. Just about back to normal now.
There are over 4,000 species of cockroaches. Less than 1% of them are pest species and only 5 of those are common house pests. Blaptica, Blaberus and other exotic roaches are not capable of infesting a home.
On the other hand Blatta lateralis (AKA:Shelfordella tartara, red runners...
I've been bitten a number of times by females and young over the years and it never hurt much but today my nice male got me when I wasn't looking. He lacerated the front and sides of my finger and bit right through the fingernail. Anyone else get a good bite and have secondary infection issues?
