As Rob suggested as ling as it's in a visible location and the feeders are visible to them, they should be drawn to it immediately, once their hungry. I've also covered mine on the sides so they can't see the feeders through the plastic and strike at the container on accident.
Movie .. the above posts are correct. They can be very secretive drinkers. Watch the urates, white and black is what you are looking for. You might want to contact the former owner and find out if they used bottled or RO water.

IMO it's just a bad idea to keep them together at all, unless we're talking some of the smaller Chams. I'd advise against it, it's not worth the chance of putting them into any unneeded stress.

For wanting to become a vet, that's not very helpful.
I keep dubia roaches and you'd be very surprised how clean they actually are compared to a lot of other feeders.
The only other really clean feeder would have to be Silkworms, because they should be kept in a sterile like environment...
Well I'm moving on folks. I'm letting my last pair of Chameleons go. Just going a different direction with my herps and can't keep these anymore. I've grown very fond of the Giant Geckos and I'm running out of room. They are proven breeders in excellent condition.
