thanks for your replies, that is a good point brad i will have a look into getting some as a feeder insect rather than buying them at 'pet prices'
cheers for your help
Hi everyone,
Just wondering, has anyone heard of cutworms being used as a staple feeder insect? I ordered some silkworms a while ago from a site in the uk (as most people from the uk will know, silkworms are possibly the hardest feeder to get our hands on here) and they still havent...
yes if a vet could share their views as to if they think its worth going to a vets still or if it is likely i will just be told to use iodine. I don't mind going to the vet but they are very expensive in england and like anyone, i don't want to spend £60 just for a consultation to get told im...
well i have been using a reptile iodine so hopefully it stopped bacteria getting in as i did it twice daily and i still am doing it. It seems to have healed nicely at the end
Thanks for your reply
update
Thanks for your suggestions. Its later than i said it would be but heres an update on his tail. I think it looks 100 times better after treating it with tamodine and keeping it clean.
Since i have posted this, the black tip of his tail has come off (it came off on its own, not by anyone pulling it off) and has started looking cleaner in general. I have applied another bit of tamodine (iodine solution for reptiles) to the tip of his tail and the small affected patches and it...
As you can tell, its pretty severe whatever it is, but i just want to know if this is a burn and is treated by carefull application of a reptile safe iodine solution (tamodine) or if this is, as previously mentioned in another thread, gangrene?
I have only owned him for 2 days and it was...
Thats what bothered me too actually but i really hope it isnt that, im going to book him a vets appointment in the next day or so and hopefully that will sort everything out. Anyone else had experience with burns enough to tell wether that is likely to be a burn?
Ive searched the betadine you mentioned and its the same as what i have, just a different name so hopefully this will do the trick =] he looks to be getting better already and doesn't seem to be too bothered about the whole ordeal.
thanks for your reply
Ive found a better shop now and i took this picture to them and they said it is a burn. They have told me to get vetark tamodine and gently apply that twice a day, they also said that judging by how much damage was already done that it is likely to fall off but this tamodine will make it cleaner...
I have just read a health problem sheet on the internet and it sounds very similar to a burn. 'Thermal burns may not appear right away, but eventually the affected area(s) will first turn gray, and then dark. If the burns are deep, the areas will die.'
I will get a picture after he has warmed...
Im not sure if this is something to worry about but i wanted to ask before it becomes a big problem.
Yesterday i got a young panther chameleon and i have noticed the very tip of his tail (about 2-3mm) is very withered and a blackish-grey colour. I am wondering if this is from when he was...
good good! I wasn't sure as im a member of a few forums and some get a bit funny if u link people off to other sites, should have known it would have been accepted here though:)
I don't really know if your meant to link to other places/sites on here but i figured Its not like im spamming or anything so here is the vets that ive been reccommended to
http://www.animalarkvets.co.uk/
(let me know if im breaking rules with this one and i won't do it again)
Hi Pru, your practically in the same boat as me! I am on my way to getting my set up now for a panther chameleon. I have been reccomended a good vet service that might be a little far away for you if you don't drive but I have been told they are worth using. Try looking for Animal Arc Vets. I...
