just from googling quickly it seems that if uv can penetrate glass then its only a small percentage. but it does seem that some uv gets through. I do not know much myself though.
i use nothing, ive found using paper towels and other paper flooring that my cham will take the occasional bite out of it, plus it gets all soggy falls apart and is a pain to clean up.
i will ask him when i get home, i will make sure i approach the subject with care, just incase it offends him. :P I think i might have to take him to councelling if that is the case. Thanks for bringing this to my attention! ;)
I am just wondering if there is a reason why my cham is taking random dislikes to things around him, for example a sheet of kitchen roll (plain white colour, plus there are many other things he is in contact with that are white that he does not bother with)
Another example is a small clip in...
i agree with rhettus, providing they feel safe in their enclosure (i also put a sheet over) they will be fine, i have my tv on and other things that could cause disturbance and it doesnt seem to bother my cham or my beardie.
yeah well i as it goes have made my first call to the rspca today regarding a shop, they handled the call well and seemed to be asking the right questions of me, i should get to find out soon what the outcome was, if any. They did say it can take a few people reporting them before anything can...
oh thats a shame... short of that theres not alot you can do unless you find out trading standards of exotic pets and see what you can get from that, they may be breaking laws there. But the guidelines/laws of housing exotic pets is so general it probably wouldnt apply to a small cage as long as...
im not sure about where to report if you live in america but in england we have the Royal society for protection of animals, or something like that lol (RSPCA) I dont suppose you have a organisation similar to this, they deal with animal cruelty. That would be your best bet to start with, it may...
that sounds terrible! hopefully your friend will have a nice healthy cham and listens to the brilliant help you can get on here. I got my first cham not long ago and i have learned to realise that pet shops cannot be told, just reported ;)
well for my panther chameleon, i use a heat lamp on a thermostat that has a probe that measures the temperature, and adjusts the light bulb accordingly (In the UK they cost roughly £40, whereabouts in the world do you live?) and as long as you keep the bulb in a suitable position, the cham will...
i know i am replying like crazy but i am at work and i keep thinking of extra things to say after i have quickly made a post.
Another thing to consider is the terrarium size, i looked on another thread that someone had a similar size enclosure for their senegal and a few people were saying...
ok thats the information that should help people on here who keep senegals give you a better idea of whats going on. Im not much help with the husbandry as i said i dont own a senegal,
but one thing that came to my attention was you said her droppings are a bright yellow colour and dark...
Cage Info:
Cage Type - What kind of cage are you using? What is the size?
Lighting - What kind of lighting are you using? How long do you keep the lights on during the day?
Temperature - What temperature range have you created? Basking spot temp? What is the temperature at night?
Humidity...
i don't own a senegal but I know the first thing that will be asked of you is to list what is going on in your enclosure, Heat, Light, Size, Misting schedule, Supplements, position of enclosure etc
otherwise i hope you have a solution soon.
Oh yeah and a pic would also help alot
Matt
oh right. well i think the main thing that would concern me is if it is 'constricting' something, like a limb, which can cut off blood circulation. If it is just a small patch, just make sure there is sufficient humidity (i dont know veileds humidity specifically' and it should be fine.
all i have ever did if my lizards have had problems shedding, is to get the area wet with warm, clean water and some cotton wool or a bit of soft paper towel. do not pull it off or anything like that as it can cause big problems but just getting the area wet will make the shed loose and it...
i only have a panther, and they arent really plant eaters so i cant help with that one. i have heard that veileds can benefit from some plants but my advice would be to read into it alot as some plants are not good even if they are safe to have in the viv. another bit of advice would be to ask...
i live in the uk and you can get your hands on a decent Ficus Benjamina (from what i gather they can also be called Ficus Natasha) from homebase and places like that. and based on what ive read/been told on this site, they are safe, except if any branches break it is best to leave them for a few...
