    Need Melleri advice

That is a lot of weight to lose in a short time. How is he drinking? I think you are seeing the classic cage-change stress. It would have been better to leave him in the first cage, get him adjusted to bucket feeding, then move him with the same bucket to the new cage. Melleri show stress from...

Is it possiable to sex an adult Melleri?

I only specify a chameleon experienced vet because it's unpleasantly surprising how many exotics vets will try to do the wrong things to chameleons, even when they have no previous experience with them. They just fall under the main heading "Lizards". Probing is customary with some common...

Whoops! My mistake! :o I think Andrew had his melleri probed, right? I know somebody from mellerichams did it... hmmm...

Is it possiable to sex an adult Melleri?

If you are talking about the book that says the spots behind the occipital lobes tell the gender, that is not an accurate method. Nothing about the lobes indicates gender.

Is it possiable to sex an adult Melleri?

Not to add to the sexing conflict, but I don't recommend probing by anyone other than a VERY experienced chameleon vet. Your average vet doesn't know much about their biology, let alone the delicate art of cham probing. Sepioteuthis, please share your melleri probing tale? I'm a patient...

    My new cham, Pat.

Forgot to mention, I moved mine into the long 260-g Reptarium to start the housefly feeding phase.

    My new cham, Pat.

The CHs hatched by Mike are all close to 3 months old. The first of the four clutches started hatching May 28th. Inspired by the Pat Update :D I just weighed my CH group. One is 6g and the rest are now all 5g. Going by my CB growth chart on the MD, they are right about where they should be...

im planning on getting a melleri?

I don't think the update is live yet, but I found that Mike's CHs were healthiest at 78F, as opposed to the 75F (my babies) on the Raising Juveniles page of my site. Always a work in progress...

    Purchased a WC Melleri...

What's the dosage on that? My previous herp vet calculated a dosage that is one single dose, repeated in two weeks. My current herp vet approved the dosage, when I asked him about it, and it does a great job cleaning the GI tract of worms. Mine must be considerably higher...?

They are shipped overnight and Express commercially, as per carrier rules for live animals. Sometimes, internationally, they arrive dehydrated and worse... as in, going on the "slow boat".

Panther Passion Tour (Madagascar Jan 09)

I was wondering that, too. It's not really a trip my husband would enjoy. OK, I'll be honest, he would absolutely hate everything about it, especially the flight. It would have to be just me.

For the duration of the trip, each cham only got a couple basking hours out of every 24. They all gained weight on the trip, doing nothing but drinking, eating, and sleeping. I kept the room dark, and set up the bulbs with grapevine perches in the closet "area". You know how motel rooms don't...

    Using Cicadas as Feeders?

I bet your cham loved it! Look around the edges of your porch- it may have just emerged and left its former exoskeleton on a vertical surface. Local friends notify me when they have an emergence. I take several large jars or plastic containers with lids and a 10' fishing net of fine mesh...

    Using Cicadas as Feeders?

That is an annual cicada, usually more wily than the Periodicals. If it's just chilling, it probably has no huge nutritional benefit left. Adults do not eat, living only to reproduce. If it is limp and doesn't buzz or struggle when you pick it up, don't feed it to your cham. If you live in a...

    5 days of driving...

I moved cross-country much the same way. We had to drive two vehicles, only one of which had functioning air conditioning, in the heat of midsummer. We placed each cham in a small box with air holes and a damp cotton towel in the bottom, scrunched up to make a perch-like gripping surface. The...

    Purchased a WC Melleri...

PS to Suzanne- see the short lobe on Akia? She lost all that, and the horn, when she had seizures last year, scraped it up on the perches and plants... naturally, it healed shorter. Uh oh, she's ready for her shower...

    Purchased a WC Melleri...

If it's any consolation, I don't think the wide swathes of dry shed are a big issue. When melleri are captured and thrown together into cages, climbing all over each other, they get these body scratches. The body just sheds them in its own time. Do NOT try to scrub it off, that could cause an...

    early coloring up CH

It's not really cracked open, it's just the black mucosa/inner lip showing. Eventually, they grow rough skin texture, and the corner lip line becomes obscured. The mucosa pales with age, too.

    I need immediate help!

Are they too small to weigh on your digital scale? If you are talking about Baytril , you have to calculate dosage by animal weight. Get the ceramic heat emitter plugged in and try to keep them toasty. Have a 24-hour emergency vet?
