Oooohhhh, Laurie, that baby party is sounding better and better!! The more babies, the better!! :D
@ataraxia: Do you have a 8' long x 6' tall x 4.5' deep enclosure for my argus monitors? I am saying that with a slight bit of sarcasm since one is 5' long and one is 4' long and most people...
Well, as luck would have it, I will probably be going down to Daytona to help out with USARK (no booth this year for me). This is spur of the moment and my normal reptile sitter is on vacation that weekend. Here's what I need:
Someone to take care of my reptiles (including the new melleri...
Oh yes I am!!! I have to remind myself that I have other things in the house that need attention. I have a couple panthers that are normally "standoff-ish" that are at their screen doors waiting, like "uh...hello?" ;):D
Thanks, Jann! :D
I have also used an x-ray in the past but if it IS carrying eggs, the safest way to protect them is an ultrasound (but yes, you could do an x-ray, too. Also, yes, it could be heavy parasites or yes, it could be carrying excess water. I have had that happen from time to time.
Anything is...
I've had many females, but only 2 have laid for me. Both of them were originally WC and one of them was bred by me after I had already had her for a couple of years. The other (mom to my recent babies just born) bred shortly after arrival.
I would have the vet do an ultrasound on him/her...
In my experience, those sizes (if they are female) are way too small to be carrying eggs. Both of my females that have laid for me were no less than 500 grams while carrying and generally more. If you don't feel the eggs, it could be that it has something wrong in the abdomen. Do you know if...
.....make that 41. I am constantly counting (I generally count them at least 4 times per day......feel like I'm back in the first grade....) and they were all good last night at lights off. This morning, I saw that one had passed.
Since their birth, I have received a barrage of PM's about the melleri babies, inquiries about their future sale, etc. and about getting put on a "list".
As one could imagine, I am quite busy just attending to all of the 42 mini-dragons' needs and keeping track of their health, etc., much...
Thanks, you guys. It really means a lot. I hope you all are enjoying the babies as much as I am (vicariously, of course). I can't help but sit there and stare at them forever.....watching their every move....counting and recounting just to be sure ;). It never gets old walking into the room...
I wanted to extend some big time gratitude to all of you for all of your continued well-wishes and finger-crossing (and toe-crossing) over the past couple years. Those years have been full of both successes and ulitmate let-downs with the breeding, egg laying and egg hatching of my long-time...
Between my argus monitors and all the melleri, I have plenty of permanent scratch marks. If I don't woos out and use a glove, you better not either. They are proud battle wounds. ;) I certainly wouldn't mind it if I was "forced" to be scratched by a parsonii. I keep telling you...
Baby #42 (the last of the clutch) is officially out. 7 days worth (excluding the last 4.5 months of waiting...) of excitement, anxiety and anticipation all rolled into one. All 42 are alive, seemingly healthy (although, I did find one of them had a slight kink in its tail, but possibly from...
#38 came out this morning and the last 4 (#'s 39-42) made the trip with me to work this morning. #39 and #40 hatched out a little bit ago. C'mon #41 and 42!!!!! :D:):D:):D:):D
