i'd email the vet - have her/him come tomorrow.
while the drosophlia are little you may want to offer him to see if he is interested in eating them. idk where to get any other kind either.
perhaps your cage is too big for him? do you cup feed, hand feed or throw the crix near him? does...
the good news is that he is still drinking (you see swallowing movements - over and over right?
i forgot about flies - does your store have the flies (the live kind, not the dead ones in a can)?
my jax move very little (i have/had 11 but 10 are all the same age). my veild patrols her cage...
me neither but perhaps it wasn't feeling well and then you took it home and now it feels even worse.
do you have a rep. vet you can go to tomorrow?
do you have any other cham owners you can have visit you to give you some advice tonight or tomorrow am b/f going to a vet?
the younger...
here's the thing about roaches in fl. the ones in the house are either a) german (filthy, disease carriers) or b) palmetto bugs (too bing for my chams, jax and veild, to consume).
secondly i live w/my spouse and kids; the kids scream :eek:and run outside (strange b/c there are more roaches...
you don't say what size the crix are. perhaps you are feeding crix that are too small - a 6 1/2 old is still growing - so until you max out on large crix you will need to buy larger and larger crix to feed it.
6 1/2 months seems very young to 'regulate' feeding. if your cham is actively looking for food then it is hungry. why are you trying to get your cham on a schedule?
i let my animals eat until they are full. i wouldn't want to be hungry all the time wondering when my next meal would show up...
it doesn't seem normal for a cham that young to stop eating. I am raising baby jax and while they may not be hungry every day they are very hungry every other day. they easily ate 6-10 1/2-3/4 in crix every other day. i can't imagine them going that long not to eat. if he seems thin, then he is...
it's a sore spot for me too - hence my willingness to visit classrooms and use them in my own classes. any animal (including cockroaches) are living beings and should be treated w/respect (unless the roaches are inside my house in which case i kill them. fl will never run out of roaches)
i think a lecture on cockroaches to kids would be terrific! :eek:and i am not joking! i take bugs to various groups of kids and they love it! :D
i've done educational presentations w/ my chams but w/some very different handling techniques than i would use w/other animals. for instance; i keep...
petsmart (and maybe petco) carry fruit fly cultures in some of their stores. i would call ahead to see or you may waste a lot of time. i would specifically ask that who ever you talk to confirms that they have the cultures in the store and tell you how many vials are available (b/c they may...
if you have the patience you can 1) get a binder clip and clip it in a good spot that the cham can easily get to 2) the next day (so your cham can get use to the clip) fill a cup w/about 20 crix, 3) w/one hand behind your back, use the other to show the cham the crix in the cup (make sure you...
a few of my little boy jax rearrange the rocks in the plants i have in their cages. several others (including my girls) have had dirt in/around their mouth like they were digging/eating something in the dirt (but i don't think there was anything in the dirt as they are in indoor cages.
i was...
