OK Boothy .... Keep me posted. ;)
Hey Julie ... the 18th baby starting hatching this morning. So that means that ALL 18 that were in my DIY incubator have hatched. However the 8 eggs that were just in a margarine container with vermiculite and sand and holes poked in the side have not...
Updated Pics!
Hey Boothy ... He's the nicer one actually. LOL Looks can be deceiving !! ;)
Anyways ... here's a few updated pics and movies for everybody. The count is now 16 and all seem to be healthy and eating well.
P.S. Boothy ... I don't think...
If your XBOX 360 has a mod-chip in it you can likely adjust a setting to watch PAL movies. My regular XBOX can play PAL games with the mod-chip that it has.
Good Luck !!
Dyesub Dave. :D
Hey everybody ... just thought I'd post a couple of pics of my aduld maile veileds. The first is Jaspur and he's a little over a year old and is the father of these babies. The second male is Crazy and he's about 5-1/2 years old and the father of the second batch of eggs...
I've seen one of my chams do that before. It really weird when they puff their eye out and the socket looks the size of a marble or something. It looked like something was in his eye to me as well. But I've only seen my cham do that a couple of times and I don't think it lasted that long...
Well .. the 14th baby cham started hatching this morning. They all seem to be eating well on pinhead crickets. I am going to try to get some wingless fruitflies for variation in their diet.
I have noticed that occasionally some seem to have little naps later in the day. At first I was...
Hey Justin ... I'm glad you did post the link. :) I hadn't seen one of these before and may not have for a while without your link. Everybody's going to have their own opinion over what's right or wrong and acceptable or not etc.
It looks like these transluscents are here to stay and...
I have also read all the varying opinions and ideas in this thread. I am not a biologist or purist nor do I even know much about genetics. This seems very similar to the debate about whether or not to cross different locales of panthers.
I think that there should be both. There...
Hey Boothy ... nice chams. I just noticed that you're in Ontario as well but I'm not exactly sure how far you are from me. If you get some babies from your Nosey Be's I would definitely be interested. The female is gorgeous!!
No worries about the thread. There's plenty -O- room for...
You could also try feeding silkworms or hornworms. Silkworms are high in calcium and these guys don't move fast like crickets. He could just walk over and pick it up in his mouth if he wanted. My veileds will also eat pieces of grape and strawberry placed on twigs in their enclosures.
I...
My male veiled is almost 6 yrs old. He seems to slip on his branches once in a while but always catches himself. He doesn't chase down crickets anymore and generally waits for silk or horm worms mind you he'll eat the occasional cricket that's walking by if he's really hungry. I don't always...
Hey Chamoholics ... as of this morning there are 13 out of the egg. Most seem to be eating fairly well. I'll try to get some more pics tonight or this weekend however for size comparison the newborn in the very first pic in this thread is on the tip of my index finger. I'll try and get a...
WOW ... Are these guys ever cute when first starting to eat! I got some pinhead crickets for them and they are going to town on them. It's funny to see them learning how far their tongues will go. Quite often their tongue will only shoot halfway to where the cricket is so they have to move...
Well ... I had somebody pick me up some 1/4" crickets as that's what someone else on the forum said they used with their hatchlings. Unfortunately they were a bit larger than 1/4" .... more like 3/8" and I think the babies were a little scared of them.
So I cleaned out the enclosure and...
Baby Jackson's .... WAAAAAY COOL !!
I saw a pair in a LPS here and they wanted something like $250 - $300 each for them. I'd love to get some but not at those prices!! My apartment rarely goes below 20 deg. C. (68 deg. F.) and is quite often up to around 22-25 deg. C. (72-77 deg. F.)...
OK ... thanks for the advice. I just wasn't sure if they were a little more sensitive when newly hatched. I will keep everybody posted on more hatchings and how they make out.
Dyesub Dave. :D
Hey Julie,
Well I think that your eggs were laid right around the same time weren't they? However these were the ones in the incubator so I'm not sure if that made a difference or not. I've now put the margarine container that had the other 8 eggs in the incubator as well to see if it will...
Hey Thanks. That's weird that you can't see the pics. I can see them fine ... they're just photobucket image links so there shouldn't be a problem. Anybody else have any problems seeing the pics?
Well I'm getting 250 1/4" or pinhead crickets tonight. I will also be looking for a small UVB...
Oh yeah ... I noticed that a couple of the babies already had some nice markings as you can see in the one pic. I know that you can tell the males by the spur but was wondering if the striping indicates anything. Like will those likely be males and / or will they have more vibrant colours when...
