Depends on where you live. In Florida you can't (or aren't supposed to get) any roaches that aren't native because the climate lets any type of bug thrive... I want to start a colony myself but it would be really tough hiding them from the g/f who would kill me if I ordered some!
Then again...
Howdy!
How old is this cham?
Just to clear up the male/female thing, when you look at the back feet, do you see any spirs? They look like very small extra growths at the heel of the foot.
Also, you said he/she was digging in bark? I would recommend you get rid of any substrate in the...
My guess would actually be in the 4-5 month range. Your veiled looks a lot like mine did at that age. It is hard to tell from those photos but that would be my guess.
Like others were saying, they all grow at a different rate and it depends on the amount being fed.
I use a variety of items such as: Pre-purchased dry gutload along with colard greens, apples, carrots and sweet potatoes. I also put in water crystals but those might not be needed if you have the fresh veggies (but you will need them if you only have the dry gutload).
The best thing is to...
Well, I would be interested. I live in Gainesville, FL and may be willing to drive down there (I think it is like a 5.5 hour drive) if you can't find anyone else willing to take them. It would require some planning for me though.
I know I can give them a good home (just set up an automated...
How long are you going away for? Perhaps find someone (like me) who is willing to just keep them and house them for you until you return. Of course they pay for all the food and stuff.
What all are you giving away with them? The cage with the light?
Well, one method is to give her a "Shower". If she is old enough to lay then I would assume she is old enough to do that. I have not attempted this myself but I'm sure you can find information on it in these forums by searching.
From what I understand the shower is with warm water...
Ah... ok... :) Yes, I think I've seen you type that before now that I think about it!
Unfortunately that little trick wouldn't work. I've never known someone as afraid of bugs as my g/f. She freaks out when the crix get out! On the other hand, it sure makes playing practical jokes easy.
I'm sorry for threadjacking, but what are these? I did a search and didn't find anything (or was this a joke I missed? :) ).
I can't do roaches where I am or I would be single very quickly...
As for different, I would be sure that your encloser is wild animal/domestic cat proof so that you don't come home one day to find your beloved pet has become and expensive lunch for someone else.
The temps should be about the same, highest 95ish, lowest 60ish (at night).
I personally...
How have you been feeding him to this point? You should always gut load your crix with greens and such. I use sweet potatoe, apple, carrots and colard greens along with a pre-made mix and water crystals. If you aren't gut loading your crix then it is like eating potatoe chips... you may get...
They do crawl up and down the screen. They also stay there just about 100% of the time, even when he is eating. I do let a couple loose in the cage so that he can hunt, but I put most in there.
Howdy,
My middleschooler is going to be doing a science project this year. I knew this was coming and have been trying to come up with different idea. Something I thought up and she likes is:
Test various environments on raising silk worms from eggs to adults.
Side effect being that...
I saw this idea somewhere else and has made a BIG impact on my guys feeding. Basically it is a 1/2 gallon milk container cut down with screen glued to the inside.
Looks OK to me from the picts. One thing to think about is to use live plants. I'm not 100% sure, but those looked like fake ones. Adult veileds tent to eat the plants and the plastic ones can become impacted.
She looks hydrated and healthy to me!
