I don't suppose there is anything wrong if he is hunting down there (where all the food is). It would be a problem if he was going down there and laying down or something though.
Using the basic word "Common" the house presure is usually around 50-65 PSI. Older houses may actually run a higher pressure than newer ones.
I've just recently finished hooking my misting system up to my house. I put a splitter off my hot water line going to my washing machine and ran that...
Coming up with a name for a pet is something I hate doing... I don't know why! I had the same problem with my kids! lol.
Once person started singing "Karma Karma Karma Karma Karma Chameleon" and said I should name him Karma or something. I was joking around and said, nope... Bob wouldn't...
I would have to recommend waiting on breeding until the female is at least a year old. If she is only 7-8 months old then she is still growing and when you mate, the calcium will be split between the eggs and growing and you run a greater risk of the female having complications.
Just my 2 cents
I don't know that there is a "Best" when it comes to a basking lamp. Just using a 50-75 watt spot light will do the trick. You want to have visible light and adjust it so that it is in the correct range of temp for an adult veiled then the 85-92 or so mark is good.
The "night light" or...
What kind of issues are you talking about? Chams don't shed all parts at once (but should shed everything within a day or so).
How old/big is the cham? If the cham is large and healthy enough you can also try giving him/her a shower. That should help to hydrate along with helping to...
I don't think that hunting will be a big problem in that size aquarium. Crix will typically migrate to the heat source just like the cham (visible light) so hopefully that will help. Just try and make sure that none are still in there at night to avoid the cham getting munched on (or leave...
I was going to clean Bob's cage and tried to get him out of it. Bob is one of those veiled chams that loves to be touched as you can tell! (Ok, just a bit of sarcasm there).
Anyway, I haven't seen him all fired up in a bit and loved the new colors!
Hope you like them too!
I agree with the size. You are probably looking for at least a 24x24x36 cage.
Keep the 5.0 long bulb, that is good
Keep the 50-75 watt bright light heat bulb (so that the basking temp is correct) - Chams need a visible light to look for in basking
Drop the night light (not needed, no heat...
So, I feel like adding to the family album! Do any of you feel like grandparents showing off your latest cute grandkid photos?
So, Bob is just around 6 months old. He is full of spit and vinager, like a lot of other veileds.
The first picture actually is facing the wrong angle. When...
If you click on the picture they will open up into a new window that is larger, so don't worry about that.
The others are showing as invalid links. Check the links again and see if they were put in incorrectly on accident (or if the pictures are missing).
Any chance you can do a closeup of your automated misting system? Specifically the nozzles and the timer?
I don't like my setup now and want to put in a different system running off the household water but haven't figured out the best way to do this yet... where to put in the reducers, or...
Different chams will grow differently. Chams are mostly, if not fully grown by a year of age, even if at different lengths. When you say a foot, are you talking nose to tip of tail or nose to vent? I assume including the tail...
I have never heard of having difficulty finding breeding...
