    I'm pretty sure the colors she is displaying are to show she already has a clutch of eggs and that she is not wanting to breed. I am by no means an expert I am just going off the info I have come across in my research.

    You definitely want to get the dead ones out of there, they are nothing but bad. Also I would look into contacting someone at LLL if half were dead upon arrival. I'm sure that they would be willing to make it right if it was something that could have been prevented.
