    Life expectancy

Kristina, I thought you made some very good points which allowed me to expand on some of my original feelings/ideas. Thanks for that! Best regards, Dave

    Life expectancy

I want to point out that a lot of species don't exceed their life expectancy due to captive care. Also, many simply perish within days, or weeks, after becoming captive. This is something you see a lot of in aquatic husbandry. Cephalopods live a very short life in the wild, typically 1.5...

I could not agree with you more; I just wish there was more I could do. Best regards, Dave

Thanks for the supporting contribution, but you've been beaten to the punch on a couple different occasions. Here's just one good example: https://www.chameleonforums.com/please-identify-10984/index3.html

    Sambava male wanted

I have a small clutch at about 3mo of age. At this point I believe I only have one male and three females, but will be holding back my male. The mother of the clutch is a daughter of Tyler's Loki and Mabel of Amazing Blue Reptiles. Sire is the one in my Avatar. If I can positively ID another...

Need some advice, beer drinkers needed.

I've tried a lot of beer and I've decided that Cooper's is my favorite and I'm sticking by it. Cooper's Lager or Cooper's Sparkling Ale is what I like most, but I dig unfiltered. Purchasing beer for a person can be really tricky unless you really know what they like.

    Show Us What You've Got!!!

Sounds like you got it all situated! I do have tanks, but I work with brackish, housing T. jaculatrix (archers). There's really not too much to look at, but I'll dig up some photos. =)

    Show Us What You've Got!!!

I hate to go aqua-nazi on you, but your 24G Nano is very poorly stocked. Your long-spine urchin and Linkia stars (not to mention the star is a predatory species) will exceed 12" full grown. Shame on anyone who keeps cleaner wrasse and know better. Cleaner wrasse almost solely depend on...

    Lighting Idea

I'm the worst at keeping plants alive so I end up replacing them every few months.

    Lighting Idea

I recommend using multiple tubes aside from the UVB tube. I run two 48" Dual Bulb T12 Fixtures w/Three Phillips Daylight Tubes and one Reptisun 5.0 UVB tube. I feel that my cages are still too poorly lit.

Is that a burn? Looks like it could be one.

What do you feed your Blaptica Dubias?

That's pretty much why I also feed mine chicken mash (that I accidentally purchased thinking it was gutload)... it's a way easier source of protein than hard-boiled eggs.

My son holding a B. dubia roach.

Thanks. Fear is learned and we try our best to keep him from fearing things that are harmless. It can be tricky when it comes to animals though; snakes is a good example.

My son holding a B. dubia roach.

Just about all insects aren't half as bad as people make them out to be. I don't think they're bad at all, but I damn near had a stroke when one almost crawled into my glove. :D

My son holding a B. dubia roach.

This kid is putting together full sentences and everything. It's an interesting thing to watch him grow. He's really into rocks, animals, cars, and climbing (I caught him standing on his dresser the other day!). We'd love to have you and you always have a place to stay for as long as you...

What do you feed your Blaptica Dubias?

Hard-boiled egg for protein and fresh veggies for hydration. I like to QT a handful away from the group with Cricketfood.com Advanced Blend Gutload before feeding to my chams.

My son holding a B. dubia roach.

I was tending to my B. dubia roach colony today and my wife snapped this: This is a picture of my son, Evan (2.5yrs), holding a large female B. dubia roach. I like this photo because I'd never hold one without gloves, but he loves it. I have a very mild insect phobia where I'm totally...
