hey mindless, i live in arizona as well. last reptile show was feburary, and not sure if it was an annual one or not. it was in tempe i believe. I have been lookin but found no posts or anything about another one coming up soon.
awesome ingenuity. Do you got any type of feed or something to attract the crickets out of the feeder terrarium? or do they seem to be attracted to the area anyways?
the glass part would be good, since you will be able to stick temperature and humidity gauges on it. and any plastic suction cupped plants you might want to use too.
i think normally they are ready to mate at around a year, so you may want to wait another month or two.
as for who's cage, put hers in his cage.
if she turns black, take her out and try again in a few weeks,
but should the male start bobbin his head, put on the barry white and let things...
I want to get mr toad a newer, taller cage.
i see most of the users here have some sort of mesh cage with a plant inside.
what i need is a parts list i guess i can call it?
what type of mesh, frame, all that type of stuff that goes into a conventional chameleon set up.
I pretty much...
im trying that method right now. so far, i cant see any eggs, been coming on 2 weeks now. im going to give it one more week, if nothing, just scrub it all together
i had no idea you could feel their bites.
question, can you just sprinkle some of the calcium powder or whatever its called in the crickets feeder cage that way they are all powdered up before you place them in the cage, or can that kill them?
its for sure either a leopard or crocadile gecko.
leaning more towards leopard because they do not really change looks while growing. I have never seen a croc gecko other than full grown ones. the skin color tells me croc, but the texture of the bumps is telling me leopard.
attaching hoses like that is pretty simple. as most people have the net type of enclosure, all you would really need is some twisty ties that you use on loafs of bread. or even silicon, just make sure its well dried before you put the chameleon back in so he doesnt inhale those fumes.
nice. Personally people that complain and whine about live feeding is pretty annoying to me. Happens all the time in the wild, so why not at home? There are limits to that tho, such as the guy here in az that fed his python a puppy. thats a bit far.
I only get about 20-30 crickets at a time. I feed the cham about 2-4 a day, depending on if i give him a wax worm or not.
he usually goes through that many in about a week and half, so after all the crickets are gone, i clean out the little plastic cage, dump the egg carton, and put in new...
Well seeing as the only local pet store i like is nearly 40 miles away, and there are no others really any closer, I am somewhat forced to, but I dont mind it one bit. I dont take their advice or ask them how to do this or that. I do my own research and make the desicion myself.
the terrariums they sale have nothing to do with their knowledge of chameleons at all. Besides, the knowledge should be ultimately possessed by the person making the purchases.
having a pool of water in the cage is usually not a good idea. the chameleons food can drown in it, and possibly even the chameleon. they will drink out of a water fall, but it usually just clutters up the cage. drip system is the best for it.
petsmart and petco have great terrariums for...
