Is it possible to do a fecal test if he isn't producing any? I've thought about it but I didn't think you could do it if he wasn't producing and feces. The Vet and I were discussing switching him to an antifungal drug if the Baytril doesn't work, the only problem with those would be that they...
His dosage was low, I don't know the exact strength but I do know we were giving him 0.05ml twice a day. He was getting heat, but he doesn't bask anymore (So I guess I should say heat was provided). The weather here is hot, usually in the mid 90's. The only time he perks up is when he is in the...
Sulley is very dehydrated and we cannot seem to correct it despite plenty of water, gatorade and hours of showers a day. He was diagnosed with "mouth rot" by the vet and we finished a course of Baytril (flouroquinolone antibiotic) on Thursday. He is no longer eating, pooping or producing urates-...
I am a pharmacist and I know his antibiotics cover a great deal of bacteria, so I am comfortable with what the vet has chosen. I recently cleaned and remodeled his cage to make it harder for his food to elude him.
Why should I remove waxworms off of the menu? I know that they are a high fat...
I never considered changing the bulb because I thought the issue with the compact bulb was blindness. It's something I will look into on my next payday.
As far as his positioning, he is mostly sitting on the bottom but he sometimes does hang there...which he's never done before.
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - 18month old male Nosy Be Panther
Handling - Daily - due to vet meds and health issues (was once a month or less before he got sick)
Feeding - Crickets and waxworms. I don't know how often he's eating nor how much. Most of his food dies waiting for him to eat...
Sulley (male nosy be panther) has been having some eye issues on and off for a little while now. Now it's to the point where he keeps both eyes closed for most of the day, if not all day. It has been a huge concern because now he's not finding food nor water. I've been giving him showers 2-3...
I honestly have no idea. I keep the cage door and my bedroom door closed. It took me so long to find him because I refused to believe he made it outside my room.
They have a habit of disappearing when they want. Recently, mine not only escaped his cage but my room as well. Found him asleep behind my washing machine 9 hours later.
I looked into them a while ago and they were out. I haven't checked on them in a while...totally my fault. I would love to get him on silkworms. As far as feeding them, how do I know what size I should use? I know the worms get pretty big.
Sorry for the confusion. He normally basks several times a day and spend most of his day at the top of the cage. Since he's not awake as much throughout the day this has decreased. I guess I was stating the obvious. Sorry.
When he's awake, he acts completely normal.
Unfortunately, no new lights in the area. He's good about sleeping through the night and I'm very careful to keep light to a minimum in the mornings (and I have been checking to make sure he's sleeping when I leave). I will double check things for the next couple of nights, but so far I can't...
I try to expand on his feeders. There's not a lot in my area and I haven't had much luck finding stuff online (silkworms, mantis's...). There has been no changes in his environment. His behavior has only been this way for the last several days. He still goes to bed at his normal time in his...
His lights go on at 7am and off at 7pm. He's usually very timely with his schedule which is why this is so concerning for me. Normally he gets up right when his light go on, and he's usually in his sleeping spot about 30-45 minutes before lights out.
The timer shedule and the natural light...
Pantherlover - He does get some sunlight but he likes to go towards the darker parts of his cage and sleep. As far as the potato goes, I only use it when I run out of my usual (Fluker's Cricket Diet). It is low in phos and from what i can see, low in Vit A as well.
Moviemanmania - I don't...
