I am not sure where this post belongs but this forum sector seemed appropriate. I wanted to share with you guys and also create a little guide for newbies (like me) who want to make a poor man's dripper system for their chameleons.
There are many methods, mine is just ONE of the many ways you...
I don't top layer my soils. Once the plants have been purchased the plants are given a steam wash, old soil removed and a new plant pot given with fresh new compost. I use the Westland bonsai compost as it works really work for ficuses and has no perlite, just mulch.
I've had no problems so...
Yes I do but she is not in a good shape. She has been off feed for a few weeks and I have been assisting feeding her all this time. Dosing her with BSP multivitamin dilution. She ate a few crickets for the first time last Sunday all on her own. Her ribs are a little sunken in, not sure if MDB...
Hey guys my female is on a hunger strike or what I thought to be a hunger strike. I was wrapping my brain on why she decided to be this way and came to the conclusion that it was the food administration. She'll only eat food released into her cage. A real bummer she doesn't take to the jar...
As you guys might or might not know I had brought in two chameleons that were very sick and infected with internal parasites. They were suffering from URI, coccidia and pinworms. I am still struggling with the female. After what I believe is to be 3 weeks I am starting to enjoy my chameleon and...
Get an all screen cage for your chameleon it's better for air exchange. Screen cages usually are made with aluminum or steel thread mesh so domes and other bulbs can be place on there.
If you don't mind I believe I will incorporating your idea into my viv build :D :D It looks natural and light weight too! Congratulations on your invention
I have just passed through this. That is an URI, at the early stages of it. It's one of the little signs they give when it starts. Observe your chameleon when he's sleeping. Does he sleep in a stiff straight position? Is he sleeping as if he's howling at the moon? Chameleons with respiratory...
I'm giving her frequent hot and humid showers, I mist twice a day with luke-warm water once in the morning when they wake up and 2 hours before lights off. Refill the dripper and try to feed her every morning like clockwork.
All this in efforts to rehydrate her
She was bought for me like...
My condolences for the loss you have suffered and I am so sorry to hear what a sharp left turn things have turned out.
Firstly keep in mind that you are not the worst chameleon owner. You have good intentions and obviously show an extensive amount of care and worry for your animal. That in...
This is she
She isn't as black as she used to be and started to shed out some green, especially in the morning but most of the time during the day she hovers between leather brown with green tints all over the place.
She is still not eating freely. I had to assist feed her each morning. At...
My 4 month old female veiled chameleon has been blackish/brown for a number of days now. She does bask, drink and move from time to time but she's mostly always brownish with black markings on her and a little bit of green here and there.
This morning I noticed she is hanging around the base...
I moved mine yesterday from my room into the corridor. They weren't that stressed and just act normal.
Ensure your door is closed and that is good ventilation just in-case of any paint fumes leaking in.
Basking Bulb and UVB on at the same time. 12hours on and 12hours off. You need a day and night cycle for your chameleon to rest and sleep. They also need a temperature drop at night in order to function normally.
My female is always in drab brown/green color mixed with black in her enclosure. Similar to your first picture. Only she doesn't perk up when she's out of her cage. I have no idea why.
I am looking into establishing a first-aid kit for the chameleons just in-case anything crops up. So far I have Shed Aid, Repti Wound Healing Aid, Aloe vera cream and Betadine. I could add eye-drops but I don't know any good long lasting eye drops for chameleons, so far I haven't had any eye...
