9:30am greeted me with a ring from the doorbell and a knock on the door. I was already restless with anticipation, on and off sleeping since 7am. At the initial sound of the bell I sprang up and rushed to the door, only to casually open it in case the UPS worker was near the door. But he...
I'm expecting 2 bearded pygmys monday/tuesday.
When should I start feeding them, how much, how often, and when should I supplement?
I've read a few care sheets and understand these values but I'm just wanting to make sure.
Could I get one of these terrarium toppers, toss it on my 29gallon aquarium, and get a chameleon?
I'm currently going to use the aquarium for pygmys but I was just curious if getting this accessory would give the room necessary for an aboreal chameleon.
If not, its not a problem. Just...
Could I go to a place like Hobby Lobby and get some of their faux plants to add color to the pygmy's enclosure? Or should I stick with things like ZooMed's products?
I'd like to do live plants but I'm not sure what to get or where to get it.
My largest interest at the Memphis reptile show was the FLchams vendor. They're website is what I've used to get a basis of what chameleons peak my interest and the website helped me narrow down which pygmys I want (I'm gunning for a pair of spectrals, if not those than beardeds). I talked to a...
Haha, juvenile it is then. I'll have to start asking around at the pet stores I frequent and see what can be done.
I was thinking of starting with a medium size complete cage set from flchams. Is that a good call?
Its awesome to get positive feedback, lol. I do like the veileds, but I also like the jacksons. But seeing as how the veileds seem more readily available, I think I'll go after one of them.
I could get the cage and cham next month, so I think I'll start researching and looking around...
I'm already expecting some pgymys soon, I've posted several threads here and have gotten great information.
But yesterday I went to the Repticon show in Memphis and saw some very nice veileds, panthers, and fischers. I'm really excited to be getting my pygmys soon, I've had an enclosure...
Well, the pet store can't get any pygmys in simply because they don't have anywhere to put them since business has been slow.
However, my preferred store in town is possibly getting an in with a local breeder.
Soooooo, it may not be so hopeless.
Can I keep the substrate I have in my...
Update:
The 29 gallon tank now only has fish that will be returned to the store of purchase due to incompatibility with fish in the 55 which is just about stocked.
Tomorrow I'll be going to the pet store where the chameleons will be purchased. I'm going to find out what they can get in for...
Ha, thanks for all the feedback. Its going to make this process alot easier and fun.
I officially began my conversion of the 29 today. I got my 55 gallon tank which I'm transfering all my fish in to once its cycled.
You should explain to me how to create this "screen-top". Photos maybe? Sounds like it'll be fun to do. Before I go searching for this thread, can someone give me another opinion?
My biggest issue with doing pygmys is conflicting information about lighting. The place I'll buy the chams...
I read the recently posted thread about pygmys kept in aquariums and feel better about my decision to do pygmys in a 29 gallon tank.
My only question is whether or not I should use a fan on that tank.
Is my ceiling fan enough? The tank isn't sitting directly under the fan but you don't...
