For sure take those lights out of the cage. She WILL burn herself. And the red light is not nesecary. I live in Canada, gets cold here too, but I've never needed night bulbs for any of my Chams.
Also... definetly try to thicken up the foliage a bit. Try and fill the cage. I never stop...
All I can really tell you is get use to it! Veileds tend to be a bit cranky. Out of all the Veileds I have had and do have, I've only been able to free handle one of them.
4 months?! It very well could be, but it would be dangerously small for 4 months. Pet store do tend to do that, but still that's scary. I would say usual age for that size would be 5-8 weeks old? Somewheres in there?
I live in Alberta... it's freaking cold here. I've never had a problem with my Chams getting too cold at night, not many people let their house drop too cold either though. When your heat is on in the winter, it's rare for us that it drops below 70 at all. Actually, I can't recall it happening...
I use zip ties and twist ties. I prefer zip ties, because they last alot longer. I've used them on alot of flexariums, or reptariums without a problem at all. Just be careful with the live plants, you can't tie those too tight.
Have you taken your little guy to the vet yet? They're never gone until they're gone. I personally would try everything in my power to get him looked at by a professional. After all, the attachment is already there, and a vet bill just may be cheaper than another Cham.
Oh yes, I get those from time to time. I can't remember what they are called, but they are absolutely safe. I found that those and the fuzzy black ones are awesome for keeping your cricket bin tidy.
Could be an infection from a small lesion as well. My female Xanth had that, and I treated it with diluted betadine, and all was well. But, to be sure, maybe a vet check is in order?
