Like others have said, if the humidity is down chams will drink more. You said your humidity gage was broken so this could be the reason. I would highly suggest getting a new gage. If it's not the humidity, I really could not image drinking like that would be a bad thing... Maybe a doc will...

It's possible that he is getting nervous and is the reason why he walks backwards. Does he do it in his cage when he is by himself?

Like others have said, chams open their mouths like that in an attempt to cool down because they are too hot. I would suggest lowering the temp in the cage wherever he has been doing this.

Lemon trees grow thorns. I have a big one in my backyard I was going to let my Cham chill in, but I looked and it was full of thorns on the budding branches.... No good

My Cham loves to hangout with me and be outside of his cage. Whenever I open his cage door he quite literally runs down his tree and reaches out for me. He will climb right up my sleeve and hangout on my shoulder as long as he can. I know that handling causes stress, but I'm pretty sure my Cham...

You need to be careful. If he touches the metal housing of the basking light dome he or she could burn themself:(

How did he like the outdoors? My Cham was in awe the first time I took him out. I can't keep him in the enclosure now:D

I believe it's the fumes you need to worry about. By the time you get your cham, the paint should have settled.

It does depend on size and maturity, but this usually takes place around 5 months like some others have said(for a panther btw)
