    Chameleon Clip

Not really a happy ending but a brief clip I found on YouTube showing a wild chameleon. Chameleon Clip

    Whining/crying

Small chameleons hisses sound like a kitten meowing. I guess something to think about is what is going on when your chameleon is making these sounds? If you are trying to get it out of the cage, have the door open or are staring at her it could just be a hiss. If you notice her doing this...

my (experimental) auto feeder for crickets.

I really have to say I am 100% against this idea. The set-ups do not look bad or anything like that, rather there are several fundamentals that are missing that generally are used to ensure healthy chameleons.

    Tanks

JermoB this question has several different answers. Really kind of depends on where you are located in the world. Say someone like me who lives in the SE USA could take advantage of what the enviroment they live in has to offer with and all screen cage. Humidity is fine almost year round...

how do i tame a cham

Most chameleons mellow out with age. I did have one that stayed crazy his whole life. As I look back on it there may have been other factors. Multiple moves, roommates, girlfriends and me be ignorant to his care. Kind of amazed he got as old as he did. I have only owned one female so take...

    1st time set up

If you like reptariums I would suggest checking this out (second page). Improvements to the reptarium Not that this is in any way a definative way to do your reptarium but I think it could give you some ideas as to how to go about it, should you go with a reptarium. I think in the...

    Annoying bugs from plants

Just hope you never get any millipedes. I had to throw away every plant I had and buy all new ones. That sucked.

How does a chams tongue work?

Think of the tip of their tongues as being like a plunger. When you push down on the handle the rubber piece expands out and attempts to flatten. When you let go of the handle it will go back into position. As the tongue leaves the mouth it is kind of like when you push down on the plunger as...

    Annoying bugs from plants

When you repot them I would add a layer of rocks about an inch deep if you have big plants. A little less for smaller plants. This will allow the soil to stay moist but not wet.

    Lights!!!

Really you are just going to have to play around with a couple different wattages and distances. A digital thermometer will be your guide. I have to switch my wattages around with the seasons.

    Intelligence in chameleons?

Use to be available to hear on Chameleon EZ online. It was in May 03 issue but it will no longer let me pull it up. Guess it is to old. They had to speed it up. Kind of like the ALvin & the chipmunk effect with old tape players using record and FF. It really just sounds like a hoot from a...

    moldy wall ewww

First I would suggest observing the cage and spray to see if you can figure out exactly what is going wrong. Maybe a situation where it is overspraying in the back and making contact with the wall in that particular area. Could be a situation where the cage floor is flooding and then getting...

    Intelligence in chameleons?

Intelligence can be gauged through animals by the complexity of their communication. Chameleons simply do not have complex communication. Some species can make extremely low frequency calls. The call itself is not complex. It could be something like a mating call or a warning. The...

Whats the AVERAGE humidity suposed to be?

Most chameleons ideal humidity range is between 50-75%. This is based off of figures from their actual enviroments. 55% going into winter is not bad at all. I personally would say 40-60% humidity in a "dry" cage is good for a veiled. 100% humidity? If that is an accurate reading I would...

    Getting rid of fungus gnats...

You could add an inch of rocks to the bottom part of the flower pots. This will help the water drain out of the soil fast. Of course empty the water from whatever you are using to catch water daily.

    eating leafs?

Some panthers will try to eat wood, bark or sticks just so you know ahead of time. When panthers get older they do not really try for either any more. Maybe they are just curious or confused.

    Veiled not eating crickets anymore!

I would let him not eat for a couple of days and then see his response. Picky and lethargic makes me think he might be slightly overfeed. Not saying that you are doing anything wrong in this situation rather your chameleon maybe changing on you. With age comes a little less activity. Staying...

    Help with rescued veiled!!

The white discharge around the nostril is natural. It is a means to conserve water. They can discharge a couple different things in salt form from the nose. This means they do not have to use as much water to pass it through urates. I would not argue that an over supplemented veiled would...
