I say a veiled. Veileds are the cheapest and most abundant in captivity. They are the second most colorful. They have very small watering requirements compared to other decent sized species. They are know to be one of the hardiest. This is for many reasons. They are know in the wild to...
What kind of cage do you have him in?
A saucer will work but really with all the watering your going to do it seems like it would flood. Constant saturation of the roots can cause them to rot also.
I personally think it is better to get all the water out of the cage.
ReptileGirl111, take his behavior as a sign of good health. Ones that hiss, lunge, bite and display aggression towards you are usually healthy. When you have had a sick one it is sad to see how passive they become. The return of the anger/aggression always makes you feel better after seeing...
If he is inside you are going to need a light that produces UVb. The one you mentioned is for naucturnal reptiles. It produces no UVb. You will need one that produce at least 5% (most manufacture sell them rated like 5.0). The number will be relative to the percentage of the UVb it produces...
Just to add on so you know ahead of time the shedding gets less frequent with age as Brad said but it will also become patchy. Patchy meaning the head will shed, then the tail, then a leg...etc... The area that is shedding should come of fairly quick but the ordeal of the whole body shedding...
Do you have any pictures of your chameleon, specifically the casque and/or/ tail?
What size crickets are you feeding him?
What size cage is he in?
What size and weight is your chameleon? If you do not know the weight the length will help.
Unless you are feeding him small feeders I...

I switch bulbs with the seasons. I only go up 25w. You may have to do a little more or less. Just wait tell it starts to cool and experiment with then.
A cage in a corner will restrict air flow some what. Which in turn can help heat the cage a bit. Placing something like cardboard or...
Dragons of Namib
Check this out. Was posted awhile ago. It was a National Geographic about some bizarre chameleons. Broken into five parts. About an hour long show. AWESOME!
They have also featured them in shows about hissy fits (#9) and speed (#3). There was another episode with them in but I can not remember what it was about. I tried to look on YouTube.com for a clip but did not find any.
That show is cool.
Mortar tubs can be used. Really you would have to kind of build the cage around the dimensions of the tub you are going to use. You can find these at Home Depot near the cement.
My local home places sell 1/8" PVC. This is used on alot of the premade commercial cages you find on the net...
