The best bet is handfeeding over a long period of time. I've had my first cham since January 2010 and just very recently she has realized im not a threat for the most part. When she feels like it she comes onto my hand and crawls on me. She still runs away though from time to time.
This is the time of the year that these bad boys come out, and they don't stay around long. I was wondering if it was ok to feed them to my chams/bearded dragons. We get them over here in NY, I'm not sure what other states u can find cicadas in.
I recall the guy who had one of these at the show saying they were high maintenance, that they needed assistance shedding or something n that they needed to have lotion put on their "skin" to prevent them from drying out.
Ok I wasnt around yesterday so I couldnt check this thread. I was going to take the pothos out but what you are both saying is that it should be ok to be left there now. How long have your chameleons been eating their pothos?
Straight to the point, I read that if the chameleon is eating this plant that it needs to be removed. That's correct right? What is the BEST plant that can be put in with a veiled that can also be eaten if your cham is ridiculous like mine.. I couldn't get him to touch veggies when I first got...
My chams are the same way. Though finally my female is learning that my hand is not looking to eat her and she readily hand feeds from me. My male thinks my hand IS the food.
I know that one of the most commonly used methods to get a cham to "tolerate" your presence is to handfeed. I have had butterworms and silkworms the last two weeks that I have been using to handfeed my male veiled Cosmo. He is a juvie about a foot long already and when I first got him he was ok...
The male is a sandfire hypo morph, the female i think is just regular colored. She is rusty colored but the verdict on here was that her scales were dyed from living on the substrate after I showed pictures of her on here. Idk what I would sell them for yet, or who I would sell them to. I...
I got my hova bator from lllreptile today and just finished putting it together. The directions say to turn the adjusting screw for the desired temperature until the light goes on. I get the light to go on and after a few minutes it goes off? is this normal? I need to get this bad boy working...
I'm not sure if they were infertile or the conditions were wrong but I wasn't completely ready for them yesterday. I ordered an incubator and vermiculite last week and it hasn't gotten here yet and I was very surprised to find Jericho's head sticking out of the cave I KNEW that meant one thing...
It's that time of the year again! My adult female Jericho laid her first clutch of the season, only around 12 this time.. However since I have limited experience with how large the eggs should actually be I need help in figuring out if they are fertile or not... If they are how do they need to...
Well all of my lizards have accepted everything i have given them I think the key is variety and moderation. ONCE one of my beardies wouldnt look at crickets for a few days because i gave her 5 supers in one day but she got over it eventually n eats everything again.
Bearded dragons LOVE them. All of mine destroy them the moment they hit the floor. I'm actually surprised your cham couldnt handle a worm being that big, my little female tackles 1 in. hornworms with no problem. Matter of fact yesterday she ate 2 1 inch silkworms at the same time lol. The...
Also since you have only tried silks and mealworms you can also try superworms and hornworms and see if he likes them. Hornworms would probably outgrow your baby in a few days though.
I only got about 25 of them so they will probably last a few days between my crew lol. But if I were to get more in the future what can they be fed/gutloaded with? Also does anyone know if they bite? Cuz if not then I can hand feed them without problems
They also have a cup of newborn hornworms that are very small and would be perfect for your cham if he isn't big yet. They'll take longer to grow than the worms in the normal pod.
My favorite is when they stick their chin out, hold one of their front legs up and rock back and forth. My female does that to me sometimes lmao. the male never really does it or he hasn't yet.
