Wish I had a hemipenal buldge like that! On a serious note, I'd try soaking him like the others said regardless if it starts looking better or not. It can't hurt. Good luck and keep us updated. David
Would also get rid of the heat emmiter. Chams need a good drop in temps at night. It's healthy for them and actually required by some species. If you have a good basking bulb and a Linear 5.0 tube light (not the compact curly kind) your good to go. Good luck with him. David
My experiance is that when their too hot it is apparent that their too hot. Mouth gaping and stressed coloration. Maybe I just have four weird chams though. It's also fairly apparent when their about to shed with the opaque, cloudy skin and slow down of appetite. Just my 2 cents. David
Kim, If this is the same one that had blood in it's stool then I would watch this closely. I was under the assumption that this was a newly obtained animal with no previous problems. Listen to his breathing and be sure you don't hear any popping noises or any unusual noises. Keep us posted. David
I agree with dodolah on the night misting. I wouldn't worry about his shedding. My youngest veiled has grown faster than any other of my chameleons but only sheds about once every month. I've had veiled that shed every 10 days or more. Don't know why for the variables but their both healthy...
I wouldn't worry about it. I have one that's done that since he was 3 months old. He's probably just too hot and hasn't figured out to move to a cooler part of the cage. Be sure there's a good temp. gradiant. I was worried at first with mine but he's over a year old now, the picture of health...
If it's not to late, have her thow in some housefly pupae. I know she has botfly pupae and assume she has housefly as well. My last cham I bought from her was a little under 3 months old and was eating 30 or more bot flies. Bot flies may be a little big for yours but the houseflies are very...
Well, I guess this puts an end to this argument! It makes total sense to me that an arboreal animal could and would absolutely have to learn to swim. Im sure during fights or missteps they would from time to time fall into standing water or have to forge small bodies of water during fires or for...
If you only have one cham, they will likely get too big before you can feed them off. If they come in about one inch, they'll be about 4 inches and as big around as your pinky in 5 or six days. They grow much faster than silkies. You might try and feed several when their small. If your going to...
Both of my veileds eat earthworms on occasion. A word of caution though, I would only purchase them at a pet store or bait shop that gets them from a farm raised source. These are more likely to be parasite free. Wild caught can be full of parasites. They don't really have any problem getting...
What type of cham? How old? Are you strictly cup feeding? If so, try free ranging your feeders. I have a large grape vine in my cages that are full of holes and hiding places. Thre crickets and supers and flies will hide in them and that causes my chams to really have to hunt for their food...
Be sure you feed and water her as much as she wants with Calcium supplements. She will be fairly depleated after this ordeal. Good luck with her and glad she came through it ok. David
It's hard to say if your going to have a problem with him eating dirt with fertilizer as you don't know if he ingested any or how much. It's something you need to correct right away though. Shedding does tend to slow down their eating. His food intake seems to be on the low side if he continues...
Way too much UVB. You only need one reptisun 5. This could very likely be causing an eye problem and causing him to miss his target. You should cut back on his d3 to once or twice a month IMO. Good luck and keep us updated. David
He's full of shit!! Healthy chams never close their eyes in the daylight! Your temps are fine. Nobody can tell for sure what kind he is but he's definately not a veiled. His casque would be MUCH taller than it is now, no matter the age.
