100w is pretty hott especially when it "sits on the cage mesh" and 4 inches IMO is too close for that young of veiled and the fact its a 12"x 9"x 24" cage. A 60-70 watt regular housebulb would suffice at this time. you said I'm debating buying a new cage since LLL Reptile has a huge one...

I have used nothing but mesh flexariums or whatever they are called. And have had all but one problem drainage! It took me a while but i finally had a custom made 2'x2'x2' plexi glass drainage system and a wide enough table or base for it to sit on. I found you can easily modify them if you find...

If i remember correctly you will hear popping noises when he chews or when he is breathing or getting fired up. IMO its a nasty sound :(

That definatley doesnt look normal....Im not an expert but i know for a fact you should change that repti glo 10.0 to a reptisun 5.0 linear tube. Compacts cause eye issues. Wait till someone else chimes in :o
